This Botanical Garden features hundreds of medicinal plants, beautiful gardens, tours with experienced botanists, clean, light and airy nurseries with plants for sale. It's a focal point for botanists, doctors, pharmacists and plant lovers from all over the world. Tours with our botanists are entertaining and educational, experience the plants with all of your senses. The Ark Herb Farm is a perfect place for families to spend a few hours, either on a guided tour or walking through the gardens without a guide.
A real true gem in Santa Bárbara de Heredia. The property is beautiful, but most of all it is nicely managed. The themed terraces offer a beautiful option to learn about different plants. We really enjoyed the self guided tour though the botanical gardens. Pretty much every plant and every tree is labeled with accurate information. In our visit, we took the lunch option. Food quality was top notch, and service was impeccable. The main building is spacious and sober. The restaurant is well ventilated and has beautiful views of the central valley. We ended up our day with a visit to the Meadery, where we were treated nicely by Michael and Alejandra, who explained the mead making process to us and offered a free tasting of a wonderful Jabuticaba mead. We had an amazing time.

Enigmata is fun, wit and immersion. Enigmata is an Escape Room, which tests all your observation, deduction and creativity skills to live a story that will transport you to another world. It is a place where winning or losing will depend on your entire team. Sixty minutes to succeed or fail. Two different rooms. Two opposing themes. Which one will you choose? will you make it?

I was looking for a tour that was just for the coffee tour with nothing else as I only had a few hours. We picked the one that included lunch and transportation to and from our hotel. This tour was perfect. Picked up at 10:25 am and returned at 2. When you arrive you’ll notice the lush landscape. The weather was perfect, very cool with a nice breeze. The tour started by giving a history of coffee and what year it made its way to Costa Rica, then you learn how it is grown, moving on you go thru the lovely grounds and learn about the harvesting and drying of the coffee beans. Very well done. Tasting of the coffee is done several times within the tour. You get to see where it is roasted and packaged although you can’t actually go into the processing plant. There’s a short video of the tasting by the baristas to know when the beans are perfect and the coffee is brewed in a press and 2 volunteers get to taste and “slurp” the coffee. The tour concluded with a trip in the gift shop and lunch since we chose that option. Lunch was delicious with a very fresh salad, nice cold beverage, lentil soup, rice and beans, mixed vegetable, green plantain dish, chicken or pork ribs and desert of a rice pudding. If you get a chance take this tour, you will not be disappointed.

Organic farm tour where our experts guide you on an excellent rural adventure across the pineapple plantations on a specially designed tractor where you see and learn about the difference between conventional and organic agriculture. At the end of the tour, while surrounded by our paradise and listening traditional music, we invite you to drink a delicious organic pineapple juice, enjoy fresh slices of our organic pineapple and some other home made products.
We were the first guests since the borders had opened up In Costa Rica for International tourists. The owner Rolando started the tour and was relived by the normal guide Michael. Rolando provided us a fascinating explanation of his experiment with using carbon (burying old wood underground for a few days and turning it into a grindable powder to sprinkle in the soil) as an organic strategy to better grow pineapples. Michael explained the challenges and benefits of organic pineapple farming operations. He wowed us with his amazing dexterity with his machete to transform a pineapple into an edible 'lollipop'. We met the amazing workers whose hard work and dedication make the farm work so efficiently. We need with fresh pineapple juice that tasted more like nectar and was absolutely delicious. Overall, we gained an appreciation for the organic process and why it justifies the pricing premium that is charged at grocery stores. An excellent behind the scenes perspective!
