Bodegas Prado de Olmedo

Bodegas Prado de Olmedo is located in the village of Quintana del Pidio, which as in all the villages belonging to “La Ribera” landscape, has an economy based mainly in the vineyards developing and wine elaboration. Its wines take the name from a near place: “Monasterio de San Miguel”. This monastery reminds the historical heritage of the village, and provides important contribution in the vineyards growing among the Ribera del Duero land. This place, located in the Gromejon’s river border, has one of the most active Roman’s paths of that time: the one which communicated Zaragoza with Astorga. Probably there was a Roman village. After that became a small monastery which at last was overtaken by the strong Benedictine Santo Domingo de Silos. Today simply the name and few documentary remains of all that. The Quintana del Pidio farmers kept alive that memory, taken care of its vineyards in these privileged areas. Without great theoretical studies those farmers achieved a product for personal use, sometimes, and for commercial sale others. And always as a ritual element for all traditional celebrations of any kind, family, social or religious. Nowadays, Bodegas Prado de Olmedo wants to relive the history of this village, by elaborating wines, proud of this land and its name. And that’s why we take an exquisite care of all our 30 Ha. of vineyards, elaborating after in our moderns installations, according to our time.

Bodegas Hacienda El Ternero

Not just Wine, since the 11th Century. Boutique family winery in a 250 hectares enclave of Castile in the heart of Rioja Alta, surrounded by forests of spruce trees and Piceas, at an average altitude of 700 meters. The origins of Hacienda El Ternero date back to 1077, when it belonged to the Santa Maria de Herrera Monastery. In the heart of the hacienda, buildings from the 17th, 18th and 19th Centuries now house the winery, which used to work as Monastery, headquarters, school and Hospital for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago. In the centre of the Hacienda our little chapel remains open to shelter our patron Saint, the Virgin of the Pera. We produce our wines using only the grapes from our own estate vineyards (120 hectares), harvesting them by hand and selecting them vine by vine, to preserve in each botlle the reflection of our unique terroir.
