A soap museum dedicated to the history and science of soap. The museum is an old, restored 19th century building with high ceilings and original stonework. On display, are two old presses and other agricultural tools, typical of South West Sicily. The inspiration to open a soap museum, comes from our experience in making and producing soap and natural cosmetics. We would like to share our passion and knowledge about the history, science and technicalities of soap making, to eveyone interested in learning more about this essential product, which started to be produced in 2800 B.C. All the visits to the museum are guided tours, and at the end of your visit you will have the chance to try our products. We are open ONLY with a reservation, and you may book a tour online or by calling us.

A lovely sandy beach which is accessed through a nature reserve. The access road is unmade and extremely bumpy, however don’t be put off! At the end is a car park and a short walk to a beautiful sandy beach. The sea is idyllic, there are a few coves to “explore”. We were a party of 8 - teenagers and younger children with us. There are no restaurants or shops, however a portable toilet was in the car park and there was a “snack van” with pizza, ice cream and drinks. Definitely recommend a day here!

Just when everything seemed to be falling into pieces, a small Cultural Center decided to transform the historical center of a town by dedicating it to art and culture. In this way, it gave the town a new identity in the present with the hope of a better future. The first six years of the Farm Cultural Park has created many opportunities and has engaged artists from around the world. This cultural center is home to an art gallery as well as other exhibition spaces where temporary painting exhibits and permanent contemporary art installations are set up. In addition, many cultural events are organized inside the Farm such as: book launches, musical events, festivals, workshops with young adults and children as well as competitions amongst architects. Farm Cultural Park has always been involved in many different cultural activities. Every year thousands of artists, designers, journalists and even visitors come here to share their experiences with others.
After spending a day at the ancient ruins of Valley of the Temples, we took a short trip to Favara to see this experimental art center that has brought new life to this town which otherwise you would never visit. Definitely worth the short trip. Everyone visiting the area must go, if only to support this effort to revitalize a poor town and bring modern art and architecture to children and families there. Much like the revitalization of once-decrepit parts of Brooklyn, NY or Oakland, CA. This should be on every art and history lover's itinerary of Sicily.

The history of the building starts in the 5th century BC when on the same site was built a Greek temple dedicated to Athena. It was pretty emotional to see the survived columns from the Greek temple incorporated into the walls through the glass floor, and even to touch them in the underground tunnel in the flower-filled courtyard. At one point, during the Norman times, the church became the cathedral of the city, while at the same time the Normans were building San Gerlando’s Cathedral not far away. The frescoes go back to 15th century and show images of Mary’s life. Despite being damaged they are still beautiful. A young woman was there to give me some information about the church in English. She also explained about the entrances: the current entrance of the church is on the west side but as a temple, the entrance was on the east side. Thank you! To reach the church was an amazing experience itself. Tucked away in the old top part of Agrigento, we had to stroll in the charming maze of narrow streets with hundred steep steps and courtyards. I didn’t mind to get lost around for hours. During our visit, meeting some of the locals was a rare event but it was a great joy walking among some of their old charming houses and colourful streets. After seeing so much rubbish everywhere in Agrigento, people here really deserve some respect for trying to keep their streets clean and fresh. The church has opening hours so I had to return to be able to visit. Enjoy it!
