An early morning stroll through the market with an expert, to teach us about local varieties of fruits; vegetables; cheeses; and specialties, followed by a hands-on cooking class resulting in a delicious lunch! Couldn’t be better! Thanks,Rosa!

My cooking classes are inspired by my love of Provence, my homeland, the land of olive trees, vineyards, sunshine and beautiful landscapes. Therefore, come and discover the rich Provencal, culinary tradition handed down to me by my mother and my grandmother; a tradition that in its simplicity seeks to celebrate and give expression to the intense flavors and aromas of the local produce.

Cooking Courses in French and English. Mathilde's Kitchen is located in the lively old town of Aix-En-Provence close to the fruits and vegetables market. We will cook a starter, a main course and a dessert, that we will share together with a glass of French wine at the end of the course. Everyone is welcome to share their love of gourmet food in a friendly and intimate environment at L'Atelier.
I recently went to a 3 hour cooking class at L’Atelier Cuisine de Mathilde and I cannot recommend the experience enough. Mathilde herself is really lovely and welcoming, and spoke both French and English with me, because I am not yet fluent in French. At the class, we made prawn raviolis, chicken forestière and lemon meringue tart- which is my favourite dessert! The recipes themselves were not too hard to follow and I am confident that I would be able to recreate them at home. I especially enjoyed making and piping meringue onto the lemon tarts, because I had never made meringue before. Mathilde even gave us a blow torch to slightly brown the meringue. After having made the food, we all ate it together as a group and it was really enjoyable eating and speaking to such a varied group of people. If you are interested in a cooking class in Aix, definitely come here.

We had such a great time with Gilles. He showed us local fruits and vegetables at the local market, took us to amazing bakery and charcuterie shops where we got more supplies for our afternoon of cooking. After a trip to a local winery we went back to his lovely home and spent the day cooking with the ingredients we had just picked out. It was such a wonderful experience, he was very friendly and easy to talk with and learn from. I would do it again, the food was amazing.
