Vermont Marble Museum is a hidden gem in Vermont! Come and discover how many buildings and monuments in Washington, D.C. have been built with Vermont marble. Learn about geology in our "Earth Alive" discovery room. Try your hand at marble sculpting with Allen Dwight - our resident sculptor.See the original blueprints for the "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier" - and see the award winning film about the quarrying and carving of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Who knew that most of the marble used in Washington DC came from this place? You will be fascinated by the types, colors and statues on display in this museum, and will even have a chance to watch an sculptor at work. Plus, you can try your hand at chipping. This fine museum has a multitude of beautiful creations, a history of the marble industry of Vermont, and information about the variety of marble found around the world. They provide tours, have a fine gift shop and you'll be impressed with the size of the marble entrance. A great place to bring the family and gain an education. Point: the tomb of the unknown soldier in Washington was made here. I give them a grade of A and recommend a visit.

If you love the beautiful and craftsmanship of old world architecture, you won't be disappointed with what awaits you upon entering this grand home. In dire need of repair, the history and beauty would be a serious loss for Vermont if left to deteriorate. The stained glass windows are numerous and beautiful, as well as the carved woodwork throughout, The views from the patio are breathtaking. You are welcome to browse on your own, entering the rooms to investigate at leisure, or be accompanied by the hier of the last owner, Colonel Wilson, whose family has owned it for generations. If you are interested in the area of paranormal activity, this would be another reason to stop by because there is some history of that as well. My family and I spent way longer than expected here exploring, not anticipating the warm, informative, and welcoming hostess. You can tell the love and passion Denise has for her home. It is truly a rough gem waiting to return to its former glory. Best of luck.
