Lancashire Infantry Museum

In December my partner and I went to Fulwood Barracks. Our objective was to gain more information about my partners two Grandfathers WW1 military records. The staff on duty were very helpful and were able to provide new and fascinating facts. One of the volunteers, Damian, then gave us an informative tour of the Barracks and told us more about the history of the many exhibits. A memorable day thank you.

My partner and I visited by chance when we were visiting Preston and were delighted with this interesting museum (and great little cafe). There is a well set-out display of historical objects and information surrounding Preston and Lancashire, which we were spent most of our time. Foucault's Pendulum is something that shouldn't be missed. There's a gift shop available if that's of interest, though as I feasted of knowledge (rather than stuff to buy) cannot comment on this in detail.

We were a group of five adults two babies and a three year old. We all really enjoyed the experience. 55 minute steam train ride, long enough for kiddies as no loos on board. The wonderful staff, mainly give up their own time to provide this unique service. How wonderful to speak to so many enthusiastic people! Santa was fab and with a real beard and real wife???? the train museum was really cool too. We're going to make this an annual trip as long as it keeps going as it's run on a shoestring.

Visited with my sons aged 9 and 14. Small museum but lots of information and things to do. For half term they had activities on including making a shield, writing a letter in Latin, jigsaws, mosaic making, making a helmet and painting beads to make necklaces. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Due to the recent storms we didnt make it to the baths as the river route was slippy The lady did tell us another route to them but we were quite cold.
