Had a wonderful time at the plantation and would highly recommend. The house was amazing and it was a beautiful day to tour the gorgeous gardens. The only thing that would have made it better was if we knew the cafe closed at 2 and even if you book a time online you can join any tour. We would’ve eaten first then gone on a less busy tour after.

We had a blast painting and snacking for a friend's birthday. They had us a little too bunched together, though, so it was difficult to get to your equipment. It would have been better if there was more room. Also, there were tons of people there for what we thought was a private event.

The Spa House Day Spa

Day Spa providing massage therapy, facials, waxing, and permanent make-up in a relaxing, home-like environment.

Reviewed By Koleta P - Humble, Texas

Exceptionally comfortable and clean.
A very cozy atmosphere where relaxing starts the second you walk in.
It is a house completely remodeled for a spa.
Quiet and calming.
My mother in law and I went together.
I got a facial that left me refreshed and feeling great... then a massage that left me exceedingly relaxed and pretty much boneless and useless for a couple of hours but very relaxed and happy. (Thank you my wonderful hubby for buying that for me.)
Mom in law came out more relaxed than I have ever seen her and gleaming like a new penny.
You have to go here. They do couples massage too as well as spa parties and so many other things that I can't remember all I read.

Dubois Winery

Reviewed By Kaycebauer

My mother in law and i were out driving one day when we just so happened to see a sign advertising a winery. Craving a new experience, we eagerly made the appropriate turns, and im glad we did.

When we visited, there were no grapes growing at the time (i plan to make my next visit in season) but despite this fact the tour was amazing. I could listen to this man talk for hours! The history of the winery and all the items on the walls have a great story that is worth listening to. He told me he practices magic, has anyone been lucky enough to see a trick yet? The place is small but plan for a good hour/ hour and a half because just talking about everything takes you away. I myself am not huge on wine but the strawberry wine he makes is amazing and I couldn't help but buy a bottle. I would love to spend a day helping him bottle wine, or maybe create a new flavor! Worth the trip, great way to spend an afternoon, free, amazing guide. Stop reading this, GO visit!!

LSU Rural Life Museum

Step back in time to pre-industrial Louisiana at this 27-building museum complex, one of the best outdoor museums in the U.S., featuring tools, furniture and other artifacts and, the highlight, a recreated 19th-century plantation that portrays the daily lives of these early settlers.

Reviewed By Ontario76 - Oakville, Canada

It it absolutely worth the visit, but use your car even if you are across from the entrance! The outdoor museum and old buildings sectjonmis what you most want and it will be about 3 miles walking, each way! So we told our hotel guide the story for the next visitors.
As for the many displays and buildings, allow 2 hours, we think. We started too late and ended up with them closing the buildings on us. We said we were disappointed with that, and they gave us free re-entry in the morning. We used it and were grateful. Learned lots more by having more time. We can figure out the way a lot of the old machinery works since it is open to inspect. The explanations of how to do the other chores is very useful, plus the lives of the slaves in their tiny cabins.
