Once a vital part of a mighty sea power, Positano is today a sophisticated resort on the central Amalfi Coast. Moorish-style architecture rises up steep slopes that gaze out on the Sirenuse Islands. Smart boutiques, selling fashions for visitors to display on Grand Beach, abound in the village. And it’s a great base for exploring the area—you can easily travel by boat to Capri, Ischia and the Grotta dello Smeraldo cave.

I've wanted to do this walk for years ,and finally I got the chance. I was not disappointed. We were blessed with beautiful sunny February weather. It takes a fair bit of travelling from Sorrento, but the walk was actually easier and quicker than I'd thought. We walked the route from Nocelle back towards Positano. We used the sunflower guide which I highly recommend. We took the higher route - where the path goes off to the right by a house with a cross in the garden - the signage takes you to the lower route at this point, but apparently the higher route is more spectacular which makes sense, and it was certainly very lovely! The cafe at the end of the route is basic but has a beautiful view too so a good place to stop off before doing the steps down to the road, which was definitely the more tiring bit of the walk. We caught the bus back to Sorrento from a stop at the bottom of the steps rather than in Positano.

In Positano, just one minute from the center of the town, the Tennis complex offers the opportunity to play on fields well cared and provided with all comforts such as showers, angle reading and relaxing for those who accompanies players and changing rooms. Tennis lessons, rent a soccer field and much more.

This stretch of coastline has often been described as the most beautiful in the entire Mediterranean. One after another, green and rocky mountains plunge dramatically into the Mediterranean blue sea. The famous Amalfi Coast road clings to the mountainsides revealing a succession of picture book views each seemingly more stunning than the one before. Not so many years ago much of this coast was only accessible by boat. Now it is a fashionable resort area which retains the charm of past times.
Very nice beach where u can rent chairs and umbrella for a reasonable price. There are 3 or 4 sections, all the same price and they have a casual restaurant where u can have lunch if u want. It’s not a sandy beach so bring water shoes as those pebbles get hot in the sun.

Arienzo Beach Club Positano, Seafood Restaurant and Bar is one of the most famous in Positano and Amalfi Coast, located on the beautiful Arienzo Beach is the perfect choice to enjoy the beach, the sea and very good grilled fish. You will enjoy good cocktails and good music.
We didn’t have the luxury of a pool at our accommodation in Positano but this place more than made up for it. The free shuttle boat was a fantastic start to the day with amazing views of Positano as you leave the port. We had pre-booked online so check-in was super quick and we were shown to 2 beds and an umbrella. The music, atmosphere and food all created the perfect day. It’s chilled out but good vibes, a good crowd and delicious food and drinks! We only wish we’d found it sooner as we would’ve definitely returned!

The valley in which Positano is located, with its beach, its steep limestone cliffs and its salubrious climate, witnessed the establishment of a sumptuous roman villa designed for “otium” – leisure time – at the end of the 1st century BC. As part of the Surrentum area (modern Sorrento), the villa was one of a number of luxury villas that had evolved on the Sorrentine peninsula by early Julio-Claudian times. Villas on the Sorrento peninsula may have become desirable when Tiberius retired to the island of Capri in 26 AD and members of the élite may have wished to be only a short boat-trip away from the imperial court. The complex at Positano featured a peristyle with, most probably, a central garden and a fountain. This was described in the late eighteenth century by the Swiss architect Karl Weber. Today all this is a museum MAR (Archeological roman Museum)
Fascinating Roman ruins and crypts, the highlight being the magnificently preserved Roman paintings. Very informative guided tour. Definitely worth a visit when in Positano. (Also in these covid times reassuring and great to see they take it v seriously in this tour, appreciated by all)

This is not my wife's and mine’s first visit to the amazing "Positano", and we hope not the last one. This time we traveled with a couple of friends we love to travel together, for them this was the first visit to Positano, and their enthusiasm and reactions reminded us of our first visit here. Positano is like an old wine that is constantly improving from visit to visit. The city is a network of pedestrian walkways full of plenty souvenir shops for tourists, clothing, galleries and fish and seafood stores and booths. A huge variety of restaurants and coffee shops of all types and levels, of galleries and photo / pictures booths, just about everything a tourists can ask for. An amazing array of objects and views for every photography enthusiast.

The Medieval Crypt is located just below the altar of the Parish Church of Santa Maria Assunta. It was built in the 12th century. a. C. with parts of a Roman Villa that was in Positano in the 1st Century A. C..
One of the most well-known landmarks in Positano, a beautiful church with marvelous roof and great photo opportunity. Intetesting and detailed interior worth checking out.

We literally visited here every day of our trip. The beach itself is usually crowded but not enough to keep you away, ever. It is a rocky sandy beach, so water shoes are advised, and the sand gets super hot. So many restaurants here and bars, shops, art, ice cream, stray cats that need to be fed (we fed them every day), the church, more shops, etc. Never got tired of it. The stairs to get there and back were quite the workout, however. Lol.
