Our visit to the Christmas Eve Panto with Our 16 and 13 year old Children went down very well and the production was fab. It really was a good fun show in a well supported great traditional old Theatre. Thanks to everyone involved for all their hard work.

Groundlings is a unique Georgian Theatre built in 1784, it is a magical place with secret doors and hidden rooms, it is also said to be haunted by ten friendly ghosts. It was frequented by Queen Victoria and Charles Dickens was nearly born here. The building went on to serve the rich and the poor with downstairs floor serving as the classroom for impoverished children and the upstairs being used by the high society for meetings, concerts and theatre. As of April 2020, a charity, Groundlings Theatre Trust, took over operations of the building. Routed firmly in its community, the charity strives to provide a variety of top-quality theatrical entertainment, along with unique and professional opportunities for our local community and students.
This small theatre is upstairs in the original Victorian building and has so much history. From the moment you enter through the door you will be taken back in time in the relaxed lounge bar area. For the productions you are seated at round tables . Such hard work has gone into the scenery, costumes ( lots of changes) and the effects. The cast were just amazing. Such talent and interaction with the audience. Very reasonable priced tickets against the major theatres in Portsmouth. Definitely worth keeping an eye out for more productions here.

Went along for first time this week and we were very impressed. Had to queue up for a few minutes before the doors opened , but once inside it was good . 2 bars , one see ing a good choice of beers and quite easy to get a drink . Good sound quality , a good view of the stage and and all round good experience. It's not easy to park but after a short drive round some backstreets you can find somewhere. - and it's free to park in the evenings

A recently refurbished beautiful Victorian theatre in the heart of Portsmouth.
In May saw Leo Sayer here ( "Just a Boy" Tour - at 70! ) - and "Burn The Floor" Musical Theatre/Dance - Also Hazel O'Connor and the incredible Elkie Brooks. The Theatre is a wonderful place to go and see a Play or Live Music....... The staff are always polite and helpful - and they get some really good "Acts" through here, cheaper than the Kings and by quite a bit actually.
