Portimao is a sailor’s delight, thanks to its calm waters and beautiful conditions. Plenty of elite international competitions happen here, but you don’t have to be a professional to set sail. Cruising the coast on the double-masted Santa Bernarda pirate ship is a family favorite. On dry land, you can wander the lovely Alvor boardwalk, enjoy a succulent seafood meal or zip around the go-kart track at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.

We booked a full day's tour with Paulo in his lovely vintage camperdown and we were so glad! Paulo clearly took great care to plan a special day for our family. In the morning we visited beautiful coves and enjoyed a swim before lunch at a popular peri-peri restaurant. This was followed by an afternoon at a fabulous vineyard, relaxing in a stunning infinity pool overlooking the beautiful scenery between wine tastings and tapas. We finished the day at yet another gorgeous spot, enjoying the incredible sunset and Paulo's carefully prepared picnic of local tapas. Paulo was simply brilliant company all day, our kids loved him (our daughter enjoyed chatting nonstop!). Paulo, thank you for sharing your local history and special places. We loved every minute - we won't forget this truly special day! Best wishes from Newcastle upon Tyne!

Seeing the coastline from the sea is an adventure in itself. The caves are strange but beautiful. The boat and crew are in good shape, and everybody tries is best to help you. I need some help getting in and out the small boat, and that was fine. You have to take the music on the boat as it is, I could have done without it. I could have stayed on the Ophelia all day!

Much of the Algarve’s charm resides in its ability to provide top class tourist facilities and yet retain its own identity, easily visible in the traditional villages and activities of the area. The Porches Pottery workshop is one of the best representatives of this art and many of the traditional methods of production are still used here today. You can see the pottery being made and painted by hand by the artisans. The fishing village of Benagil is perched above the Atlantic and a tiny but picturesque beach, the sound of the Atlantic the uninterrupted sound track to the village’s activities. Heading towards the resort of Carvoeiro we visit Algar Seco where you can see the amazing caves and grottoes carved from the coastline over the centuries. Enjoy a stroll through the village of Ferragudo, along the cobbled streets and down to the small harbor. Our last stop is in a winery where you can enjoy a guided tour and also sample some of the wines produced in this region.

Very poor, waited 2 hours for a bus this morning none arrived. So fed up with the service by this evening we took a taxi back to the hotel. You could buy a ticket with this company or instead take 30 euros from your wallet and set fire to it - the latter is less stressful
