Surrounded on almost all sides by water, Port Townsend offers many places to launch your vessel of choice, from rowing scull to yacht. Frequent races, regattas and the annual Wooden Boat Festival testify to the relationship between land and sea. For the land lubbers, there are also numerous parks surrounding the city, including Fort Worden and Old Fort Townsend State Parks and, further away, Olympic National Forest. An artists' haven, the town is home to many galleries and a vibrant Art Walk.

A historic cinema in downtown Port Townsend, with the best in current film, cult flicks and classics. The auditorium and facade feature gorgeous details from the Rose's day as a vaudeville house, dating back to 1907. With delicious popcorn, plus beer and wine and and a beautiful collection of film photos, the Rose is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. Like no other small town theatre you've seen. Worth a visit even if you're not going to a movie!
Sure the screen is a little smaller and may not have all the bells and whistles of the Mall theatres but the charm oozes out of every corner of this retro jewel! Plus when have you ever had the manager bounce up on stage and play trivia with you before a show...probably never...except here. So, settle into your velety seat with a freshly poured beer. wine or hard cider and bask in a time when movie theatres were more than just a vechicle to stream your movie; they were part of the entertainment experiance.

Port Townsend is a quaint little town easily reachable by ferry from Coupeville. It has a number of interesting shops, but one outstanding place is the Lively Olive. The flavored olive oils and balsamic vinegars are amazing. Whether you are taking your ordinary salad into an extraordinary experience or just putting some olive oil out for your guests to dip their bread, this place opens up your mind (and your taste buds) to all kinds of tastes that are just not available in your local grocery store. It's fun to take your guests on a field trip to find their favorites and then bring them home for a simple meal of sourdough bread for dipping, salad, and soup. What a way to warm up from this cold weather!

This place takes local teens, interviews them, and if accepted into the program they commit to 1 full day a week. In exchange, they learn how to actually 'restore' vintage airplanes, do office work, gardening, maintenance on the full facility, and get the chance to learn (FOR FREE!!!) how to become a full Pilot! We learned how 'many' of them upped their grades, went on to become scientists, pilots, etc! What an amazing place this is!!! Will be visiting it VERY soon! Can't wait!!!

Jefferson Museum of Art & History is located in Port Townsend's historic 1892 City Hall building. The Museum features award-winning exhibits that display our unique cultural history of Maritime, Native American, and Early Settler life throughout its multiple galleries. The historic courtroom is now an art gallery, displaying the works of noted regional artists. Once Port Townsend's Fire Hall, Courtroom, Jail and Police Station in the late 1800s, the building itself has many stories to tell! May through October the Museum offers historic walking tours of our beautiful Victorian seaside city. The Jefferson County Historical Society also operates the historic Rothschild House as well as the Commanding Officers Quarters at Fort Worden which are open to the public from May through September.
A very interesting museum and art gallery and part of a working town hall and court house,my favorite part was the old cells and horse drawn Hurst and carriage
