Cool place with a great little local museum, friendly staff and a variety of services available in the one spot. Just off the main drag and within walking distance of everything in the town.

Ewens Ponds is a series of three water-filled limestone sinkholes on Eight Mile Creek 25 kilometres (16 mi) south of Mount Gambier and 8.4 kilometres (5.2 mi) east of Port Macdonnell, South Australia. The ponds are popular with recreational divers due to underwater visibility of up to 80 metres (260 ft).
Hire wetsuits, and all the gear from east Allendale general store. Friendly staff, clean and new gear, well priced. The water is freezing but when suited up you could stay in for hours....though you can only stay in for 1 hour. You need to book your snorkel or dive with parks SA. and you book a time slot as a minimum of 2 people can go and a max of 6 each hour. Wonderful experience, gentle current takes you through the 3 ponds/sinkholes. Great clarity. A must do

Wow, what an amazing place, and hosts Donald and Sheila are funny, friendly and welcoming. Only $10 for an Adult is great value for what you get; definitely worth a visit and give yourself a couple of hours, and don’t forget your camera ????

This is a local secret and one of my favourite places to swim, so refreshing. Some big blow flies that bite, so better in the water than out Hidden Gem

The Port MacDonnell Museum is part of the visitor centre at $5pp. It is one of the best maritime museums we have seen – very surprisingly for such a small town. The displays are all set out well with many artefacts from many shipwrecks. There are so many shipwrecks along the coast near Port MacDonnell that it is overwhelming as to how many there were. The displays cover everything from the various industries, significant people, buildings, ship wrecks, different occupations, shipping, lighthouses, wildlife and so on. There is so much to see. We had to go back the next day to finish looking at it. It is worthwhile taking time out to look at it – at least give yourself an hour to an hour and a half.

Such a nice peaceful part of Port MacDonnell. Public toilets on the foreshore. Ample parking. Was nice to walk to the end of the jetty and watch the fishermen. Liked the benches that the Men’s shed of Port MacDonnell had made.

Absolutely stunning part of South Australia. The views are so pretty. Plenty of walking to do. Fishing, swimming, Cafe’s are all within walking distance. A photographer’s haven! It is the southernmost point of South Australia. We spent a few hours here during our road trip but would like to return to spend a few days.
