One of the absolute highlights of our honeymoon in Mauritius was a Sunday afternoon spent at The Crown Lodge. Jerome and his team hosted the day superbly - the drinks were kept flowing and plenty of tasty canapes were served throughout. More importantly there was a great atmosphere among all the guests and a perfect view of the finishing post. From a UK couple who have been to race courses all over the country, this is NOT one to be missed! Thanks to everyone for an awesome day out!

The Photographic Museum was created by Marie-Noëlle and Tristan Bréville since 1966. By doing such an amazing job, the Museum goes beyond the conservation and preservation mission. It creates and saves the memory of a nation! Mauritius greatly needed a place to preserve its memory and the Bréville couple made this a reality. International press even described the Museum as "one of the biggest preservation work of the 20th century." Located in an 18th century building, visitors will have the opportunity to meet the creators of the Museum. Our Mission • The Photographic research. • Preservation and Conservation. • Insure the photographic legacy. • Promote Mauritian photography. • Develop a passion for photography. • Safeguarding an exceptional heritage. The Content • More than one thousand cameras. • The first photographic lens which equipped one of the first ever made photographic camera and bought by a Mauritian in Paris in 1839. • The fabulous collection of Mauritian "daguerreotypes" • One of the biggest photographic collection in the world: nearing a million documents! • The largest collection of mauritian post cards in the world, Photo: Jean-Jacques Fabien vintage films on Mauritius, tintypes and autochromes

The vision behind the construction of the Port Louis Waterfront was to create a space that would offer a diversity of leisure, shopping, eating and entertainment opportunities in a safe and secure environment both for Mauritians and tourists alike. For years the Port Louis Waterfront, with its esplanade of 100 000 square feet, green spaces, children’s playground, food outlets, restaurants, pub, shops, cinema theatres and a splendid view over the port area, was the place to be. The thousands of Mauritians and tourists visiting or transitioning through the Port Louis Waterfront daily rendered the place lively. After two decades, a new master plan has been devised by Landscope (Mauritius) Ltd for the revamping of the Port Louis Waterfront. After the renovation, in addition to inland water feature the Port Louis Waterfront now has the SBM fountain, a gift of the State Bank of Mauritius to celebrate the colours of unity which epitomizes the Mauritian’s harmony as one people and one nation.
We went to Port Louis a few times and really enjoyed the Waterfront. The shops and restaurants were great and the craft market was really good to see. There were also some really good restaurants in the area which were very reasonably priced. We visited the old market and were disappointed with it.

This modern waterfront shopping and entertainment complex in Port Louis features a wide array of shops, restaurants, 4- and 5- Start hotels, a casino, movie theatres, a history museum, a craft market and a marina and it hosts regular live street entertainment.
If you are in Mauritius and miss some shopping there you are this place was my shopping mall, was my shopping oasis... (I work in the mall and I miss people shops and shopping)... pricey oasis...the place is across the street from local market where you find all most the same items like there but normal to cheap price, if you dare... The waterfront is clean, fancy, and cosmopolitan compare with local market.I liked the idea with the umbrella hanging, casino, bars, and restaurants, finally some clean nice restaurants.

Founded by The Mauritius Commercial Bank and erected at the Caudan Waterfront in Port Louis, this state-of-the-art Museum is one of the jewels of Mauritius cultural establishments. Our first stop of the day tour was at Aapravasi Ghat. I had no idea of this part of indentured servitude, especially in such a more recent part of history, 1834-1920. Our guide was excellent. We could almost feel the presence of those souls from China, India and South East Asia while they waited to be transshipped to other parts of the world. When we visited the grounds were open every day but Sunday

As a tour guide and a Mauritius Citizen, its one of the best place to visit because it is the Diocese and it is the main Church where all big celebrations are done ! Nice Picture inside and very calm although it is situated in the capital of Mauritius where you have thousands of car running in front gate everyday

Founded in 1880, this museum features an exhibit of the popular Dodo, the flightless bird that has been extinct since the end of the 17th century, and a vast library collection of more than 50,000 books.
The museum has been reopend on 14th sugust 2019 after a major renovation. Exhibitions and displays have been well upgraded. Especialy the section om the dodo looks good and is interesting and worth a visit. (Note the official website of the museum at this moment states the museum is still closed for revation and the dodo relics are elsewhere but this is incorrect. The museum is really OPEN with the dodo relics returned)
