Celebrating their 19th season, Primitive Designs has been nominated for a provincial tourism award, has won Excellence in Local Economic Impact, People's Choice Online, Best Gift Store, and is home to the Big Robots, including a recent addition of a flying pterodactyl! A main attraction in Northumberland County, and Ontario! People come from miles around to browse and purchase Primitive Designs' beautiful handcrafted pieces, and there's something for everybody! We carry everything from Bamboo bars, carvings, masks, drums, and instruments to outdoor decor, pottery, jewelry, and clothing. The warehouse definitely must be seen to be believed.
We had personal business in a nearby town so stayed at a local hotel off of Hwy 401. On taking the back roads going North, we passed by this unique venue with metal robots and metal dinosaurs greeting us in the side yard. All are for sale...There were plenty of interesting and one of a kind gifts from all over the world in this unique building both upstairs and down.

The shop provides a service for all of the artists in Northumberland County. There is nothing comparable out there. Shop manager Joan Tooke and curator Alexandra Kucharczyk open new shows monthly at the Northumberland Arts Gallery and Shop in Port Hope at 8 Queen Street, beside Dreamers' Cafe. The shop is continuing to operate under a new partnership with Northumberland 89.7 FM.
Eclectic Selections features the work of gallery artists, all in one place. Adjacent to Dreamer's Cafe and steps from the Capitol Theatre, Northumberland Arts at 8 Queen Street, contains arts and crafts to delight the senses. A unique shopping experience in historic downtown Port Hope. There is a collection of original, one-of-a-kind pieces of wall art from acryllic to batiks to photography, ceramics, wood turnings and carvings, hand woven shawls, tea towels and bags, jewellery and other collectibles consigned by creative Northumberland County residents. This visit I chose hand-woven tea towels, greeting cards, and a smocked dress.

We went as a family of four and absolutely loved the winter goat Smurgle. All the goats were friendly and super cute. It was a great experience and if you were not already a goat lover then you will be once you visit the Haute Farm. Debbie, the staff and the volunteers are incredibly friendly and make you feel at home. We enjoy a delicious lunch after the Smurgle at the Screaming Goat cafe. I would definitely recommend visiting Haute Farm!!

Browse the lavender gift shop with handcrafted lavender products. Enjoy lunch on the outdoor terrace, reservations required. Special events hosted in July.
This a a lovely lavender farm for an afternoon visit, or for lunch and lavender lemonade. There is an outdoor restaurant under an awning. No coffee is available, but there is tea and cold drinks. There is a gift store with dried lavender, too.
