This bridge is a beautiful piece of engineering and is worth a visit. There are many hiking trails in the area as well that can easily fill up an afternoon. There are picnic spots near the bridge. This is a good place to visit if you are looking to do something outdoors.

This is truly a special place. Be sure to take the individualized tour of lace and embroidery machinery from the late 19th and early 20th century. Amazingly, the machinery still works as the guide demonstrated to us. I never saw anything comparable to this. Also, lots of vintage photos on the property.

Well worth a visit! Plauen is still known as the "City of Lace," but before 1917, it was the lace capital of the world and won the Grand Prix in Paris in 1900. Unfortunatley, Plauen also exported its lace-making machines and wound up with competition. The lace industry was so important, that Plauen had its own American consulate until 1917. The lace industry continues - the quality is outstanding - the museum and museum shop personnel are very welcoming, very knowledgeable, and it's well worth a visit here.

Showroom Plauener Spitze / plauen lace | manufactory shop and outlet for curtains, tablecloths, cut goods, fashion and accessories manufactured by old tradition - 100% Made in Germany since 1897. Plauen, the center of German embroidery for more than 200 years, became famous for its wonderful embroidery & lace. Here you can experience the function of a historic Schiffli embroidery machine (6y) of type VOMAG Plauen, built in 1911.
Die alte Stickmaschine im Manufakturshop läuft und wird erklärt - eine Wucht! Es war eins sehr interessanter Besuch und die Spitzen haben uns auch begeistert. Schön, dass es sowas noch gibt.
