Pláka (Greek: Πλάκα) is the old historical neighborhood of Athens, clustered around the northern and eastern slopes of the Acropolis, and incorporating labyrinthine streets and neoclassical architecture. Plaka is built on top of the residential areas of the ancient town of Athens. It is known as the "Neighborhood of the Gods" due to its proximity to the Acropolis and its many archaeological sites.

organised ,well worth a visit though a sad place in world history ,as an incarceration island for lepers in the early 20 th century ,very interesting !

Plaka is a small village which is easily accessible by bus and taxi from Elounda or a 45 minute walk. There are several cafe bars and the beachside restaurants all look out towards the island of Spingalonga. Higly recommeneded for a relaxing day soaking up the sun and village life.
