You visit the scenic Tamarin Waterfalls(away from traditional tourist routes), an area which can only be reached by our 4-wheel drive. Approaching from the South or West you see the pink pigeons, avery rare species. From well hidden view points you see breathtaking views over the Massif Central, the entire South-Eastern part of the island until far down to the wild South coast.

The atelier Bernd Wilhelm is not paying commissions on sale! It can happen that a taxi driver will invent a story trying to bring you somewhere else! Contact the atelier directly for directions or let us help you with a chauffeur. Being a gold-smith master in third generation Bernd Wilhelm settled in Mauritius seventeen years ago. The paradise island of Mauritius inspires him since then in all creations. Yellow, pink, red or white 18 carat gold, brushed or polished, with or without diamonds - from these few elements Bernd Wilhelm dares all kind of combinations. The atelier can be visited on working days from 8 a.m. till 4:30 p.m. It is advisable to call one day in advance and get an appointment. You can pay cash or with a credit card and take the jewelry with you. VAT is refundable at the airport. Take a round in the showroom. Maybe your new favorite is already awaiting you!

Tamarind falls also known as the 7 cascades is one of the most attractive and captivating waterfalls of Mauritius. Situated on the central plateau near a small village called Henrietta, 7 cascades is well known for its splendid green scenery and valleys. The 7 cascades hiking is a must while visiting Mauritius. Exploring the waterfalls means walking in the dense forest, hiking and swimming.
We organised our guide Wesley at short notice and he was friendly and efficient straight away meeting us an hour after we called him to start the hike at Henrietta. It’s essential to take a guide on this walk so that you get the local knowledge, don’t get lost and stay safe as you navigate the sometimes tricky and steep terrain. This hike has total wow factor with amazing views as you wind your way down the side of the waterfalls. Take time to enjoy the views. We had a half day and managed to the top of the 5th fall. Would recommend a full day to do it justice and ensure it’s not rushed. The highlights are the amazing views, swimming at the bottom of one of the falls and surviving the steep sections both on the way down and as you climb back up. Wesley was extremely helpful and informative ensuring we stayed safe and helping us get fantastic photos at every opportunity He’s easy to contact on whatts app +230 5718 4966 , highly recommended him.

Glass making is an exciting experience for both children and adults. At the Mauritius Glass Gallery you can experience the transformation of recycled glass into hand-made art pieces by our team of glass blowers. Our Hands-of Fame Museum offers a unique exhibition of 100% recycled glass hand-casts of international and local Celebrities to support of our Charity Foundation, Helping Hands.
Last week my mother came to visit me in Mauritius and just before she left to come back in Switzerland I took the opportunity to visit the Mauritius Glass Gallery to buy a gift for my brother: the famous glass of Phoenix, the most famous local beer in Mauritius. The Mauritius Glass gallery is located in Phoenix, a town in the Plaines Wilhems district, the central part of the island. The island is not big so whether you are in the north, south, east or west you will always arrive at the big roundabout of Phoenix and you will immediately realize that you almost arrived because there is always traffic there (I advise you to avoid rush hours because the road is literally BLOCKED). Once you arrive at the roundabout, you will see the huge building of the Phoenix Beverages, at that point follow the road signs to go south (The South / Curepipe) immediately after leaving the roundabout, you should take the second street on your left where you will notice already marked MGG (Mauritius Glass Gallery). At the entrance they will ask you to pay an entrance fee of 100 Rs (about 2.50 euros), which are donated to charities, so as you will not only see something very interesting but you will also do a good deed! The staff is extremely kind and will quickly explain the things you will visit. The main entrance and the entrance of the museum are separated by a wall, which I liked very much and is clearly built from recycled bottles of....Coca Cola! The first thing you will see during the visit is the gallery of molded hands of famous personalities divided into different categories: writers, sportsmen and TV personalities. The room is a little dark but gives the right setting to the whole room, in addition to the many hand molds you will also find several glass creations such as chairs, tables and mobile art. The visit continues in the hall of distorting mirrors. Nothing special, but my mom had a great time in front of the mirrors, I guess if there were a group of kids there they would have stayed in front of every mirror for several hours laughing. Leaving the corridor of mirrors you will find yourself in the atelier where you will see the most interesting part of the museum. Here you will see the glassworkers in action and you will be impressed of how the guys manipulate the glass, it looks so simple as children with the clay but in reality it isn't. At the end of the visit you will find the shop where you can buy the creations of the Mauritius Glass Gallery artists. Not only local souvenirs but also home decoration, plates, glasses, bottles and above all... the famous Phoenix mug ( that costs 395 Rupees that I have been looking to buy since a long long time (you can also have your name engraved on it with additional 50 Rs.) Monday - Friday: 8 am to 5 pm Saturday: 8 am to 12 Closed on Sundays and public holidays

Le Domaine des Aubineaux, an oasis of greenery, peace and tranquillity just steps from the town of Curepipe invites you to discover Les Aubineaux Restaurant. Les Aubineaux Restaurant is nested in the heart of colonial house which was built in 1872. the mansion was made out of teak and other local woods taken from demolished ships. The old mansion was one of the first to be equipped with electricity. It was inhabited by the Guimbeau family until 1999. This family originating from France is established in Mauritius for eight generations now. Le Domaine des Aubineaux was converted into a museum in the year 2000 after the passing away of Mrs. Myriam Guimbeau, the last inhabitant of the Mansion. Les Aubineaux Restaurant then opened its doors in the year 2008. It offers an authentic Mauritian cuisine in a beautiful scenery worthy of the old days. A walk in the beautiful park surrounding the Domain is a must. The gardens harbor many rare trees such as Camphor trees, Chulta trees, conifers.
I went to Domaine Des Aubineaux for lunch for my birthday. The meals are reasonably price and of value for money. lunch in a tranquil restaurant surrounded by greenery. Excellent service and welcoming staff. Special thanks to Caroline. birthday cake was very yummy.. Very well-maintained colonial house.

We recently visited the SSR Botanical Garden in Mauritius. The entrance fee was Rs200 for my daughter and I and we received a map of the garden! Luckily we found a guide and joined a small group and the cost of the guided tour was Rs100. I highly recommend visitors to do so as the garden is quite big. We were entertained by our very witty guide that also spoke a few words in our language, Afrikaans! You can always browse around after the tour which we did! As I am specifically fond of trees I was blown away by the selection of old trees and the history behind it. The guide did a good job by telling us about everything he showed us! Some highlights were the pond with the huge water lilies, the lotus flowers, the tortoises and of course the trees! Our driver we rent for our day trip luckily gave us an umbrella and I strongly recommend an insect repellent !! The visit was most enjoyable and a must see!!
