Great small, local museum that covers the history of Roseville as told by what was the local telephone company. Docent that gave me a tour was very knowledgeable about both the early history of telephones and the local community. Both grew together.

The local kids love to take pictures on the steps for homecoming and prom. It's easy to see why - such a beautiful building and location. Downtown Auburn is lovely and this is the perfect building and anchor.

We have visited Maidu parks on multiple occasions but have never had the opportunity to go in the museum so we took advantage on Museum Day (entrance to all museums on this day are FREE) to go see what it was all about. We have been to multiple Indian museums throughout the west so we had a point of reference. The Maidu museum is not very large but it is full of information that we found very interesting. The 100 mile march the Natives of the area were forced to endure was still another chapter in the abuse of the indigenous people at the hands of the US government. Even though we all know many of the stories it is still shocking when we once again revisit stories of the inhumane treatment. We probably were in the museum about an hour reading all the murals etc and really enjoyed a very interesting story of the people of this area.

This is the old train station when the railroad first came to Auburn in the 1860s. The railroad tracks were built about a mile up the hill from original gold rush Auburn (not called Old Town) which obviously greatly irritated all the business owners in the town then. This museum is fairly small but a good place to visit for adults or kids. Depending on how detailed you are going through a museum it will take 20 minutes to about an hour. Check open hours before you go.

The Roseville Utility Exploration Center works with partners to promote education to students, residents and businesses of Roseville and surrounding communities about energy and water conservation, stormwater quality and waste reduction to ensure the long-term quality of life, health and well-being of our community.Created out of the city's belief that sustainability is a principle to live by, the Exploration Center is a one-of-a-kind environmental learning center focused on bringing visitors information on protecting natural resources in a fun, engaging way. It is the first building in Placer County to be so honored. Designed for active community use, the center provides a lively combination of hands-on exhibits with a Learning Lab for demonstrations, presentations and workshops. Future plans include an outdoor extension called the Ideascape, which will feature exhibits on water-wise landscaping, irrigation and construction innovations, solar energy, watershed protection and more.
