National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium

Reviewed By zunzazun - Norwich, United Kingdom

Very impressive aquarium! Exceeded expectations and the largest tanks I have ever laid eyes on. Great family activity, we travelled down from Nantou county for this and well worth the trip! Highlight for me would be the humungous Coral Kingdom tank with a shipwreck and various underwater tunnels passing through for spectators to get a real feel for being underwater with marinelife. Also the Beluga whales and scuba diver feeding was impressive. Such a variety of different marine ecologies in each section of the museum. If I had to find fault it would be that the touch and feel session for the kids was rather strcit; not even allowed to pick up the starfish. All in all a great day out and well worth the entrance fee. Will return! :-D

Xiao Liu Qiu

Reviewed By shikshap2017 - Taiwan, null

Xiao liu qiu is a beautiful island which is easy to reach from Kaohsiung. The water is warm and crystal clear all year round and perfect for swimming. once you reach the island you need to rent a bike to go around the island. It is a pretty small island so one day trip is enough. The first bus leaves at around 6 am. I have been to xiao liu qiu twice. The best beach is Gebawan beach. However, the beach was closed when we went the second time (2nd May, 2020). We found another beach near the ferry terminal which was pretty nice. we saw some sea turtles without having to swim too far into the sea.

Longpan Park

Reviewed By Enokido20 - Buffalo, United States

Rent a scooter from a local shop and then drive the East Coast and stop at Longpan park. The drive is gorgeous and longpan is a good spot to stop and have lunch and enjoy a great View overlooking the ocean. It's free with no charge. You then can continue on and there's some more beautiful stops along the way until you hit the next town. The town has several restaurants and a bridge you can walk if you get bored.

Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area

Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area is named for its two confluent rivers, the upstream of Fongung river, Naiwen Creek, and Daren River. The most famous attraction is the Shuangliu waterfall. This is a tropical monsoon forest with plentiful water resources and complicated landforms which nurture the lush green forest. In spring and summer, various species of butterfly can be seen, and in winter, groups of purple butterflies (Euploea) will gather here. It is an excellent place for butterfly watching and for enjoying forest bathing.
