the Steamtown Heritage Rail Centre is a museum where people can sit in the historic carriages; enter the driver's cabins of the various locomotives and marvel at the rolling stock in the 1926 built roundhouse and admire the still functioning turntable what has all 3 gauges. Steamtown is ideal for families and is pet friendly also. Stay the night in Peterborough and attend the stunning sound and Light show that tells the story of the creation of Peterborough, about railways in South Australia and the history and personal stories associated with it and the linking of East Australia to West Australia

Not just bikes but also other collectables. Really interesting bloke to talk to. Has one of the only remaining bikes produced locally and one owned by a member of Slade (love the 70's). Only $7 so great value. Ask him about his cars and bikes that are not on display

Bob the railway dog loved trains. He travelled extensively, mostly on the coal tender. He even got as far as Sydney. There is a book about his life and adventures which is a highly entertaining and informative read. This site is a statue of him.

The Burg is inside the newsagency, which is worth a look on its own. Inside the Burg is a working model train, a video and fantastic muriels covering the walls. Children would love a visit there.

We walked around Peterborough and it was lovely to see all the old buildings. It was also great that their history was being preserved in the information boards near the various places. Loved the Town Hall and the building next door. So much to see and do in Peterborough.

Did this as part of the 2 1/2 hour northern trip which was really interesting but could benefit from some signs as I got lost twice. Might have been easier with a copilot. Loved this illusion as it really gets you in. Had to get out and look at it a multiple angles even though it is described on the board
