1st visit to the trails here and they certainly don't disappoint, did the black route straight off the bat and it broke me a little, did a bit of pushing up but the flies took a shine to me so stopping wasn't an option. The downhills are ace though and well worth the climbing, spooky wood is great fun and even the blue at the end is pretty mega with great flow, just a shame it's so far away.

Dawyck is truly one of the world's finest arboreta. Seasonal displays of abundant exotic and native plants provide a breathtaking backdrop of colour throughout the year. The Garden also offers an award-winning visitor centre, gift shop with plant sales and a cafe. Part of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.
If you want a relaxing and inspiring three hours, like big trees, bushes & shrubs, and enjoy areas of outstanding natural beauty, this is a great place to visit.

This is a very tranquil area. This is one of the best war memorials I have ever seen here. The flowers are good too and so was the architecture.

This museum celebrates the life and works of John Buchan, author of 'The 39 Steps.'
The museum is very well placed in the town of Peebles, Scotland. Easy to locate and a very well laid out museum with family history of the famous author " John Buchan" ( The 39 Steps) aka Lord Tweedsmuir when he was Governor General of Canada from 1935-1940 plus be sure to get a copy of a recent book : "John Buchan: Model Governor General" by J Wm Galbraith concerning his time as Canada's Governor General. The museum has some interesting artifacts from the Buchan family history from the area around the Borders - A must for any Buchan fans to get a sense of his family and of his many writings - some may not know of his wealth of writing both fiction and non- fiction books. His life is very well highlighted at the museum and is indeed a must visit place for any Buchan fan.

This pub has won many awards so had to visit when visiting the area. As soon as you go in, you can see its a proper pub and had very friendly locals and very well kept real ale.

A regular cycle ride from Peebles to Innerleithen return, stopping for coffee either at Nashy’s in Cardrona or No 1 in Innerleithen....a sublime couple of hours. Following much of the disused railway line the route is dotted with information boards detailing the history of the buildings and railway route. Cutting through the Cardrona golf course the route is predominantly flat with an occasional small incline, the steepest part being between the tunnel under the A72 and Peebles, a mere bump for the experienced cyclist! Whole route is on tarmac so no more than sensible shoes required.

Neidpath Castle is open all year round, for tours by appointment. Weddings and events can also be booked at the castle.
We stayed at Neidpath Castle in Queen Mary's Chamber. My partner was over from USA visiting and I decided to book something special. On arrival we were met and taken to the suite. We were shown the facilities available, given information so we could explore the castle on our own. Lulu settled us in and gave us a history of the castle. It was so interesting to find all this out and made us feel more excited for our stay. We were given the key and Lulu left us to explore on our own. The castle is just simply stunning! The suite is beautifully furnished in a traditional style. The bedding is so comfortable and there are fires in the drawing room and bedroom that we lit and kept going. Extra heating was provided in the 2 rooms to keep it nice and cosy. I will attach some photos. Dinner was offered but we decided not to ans brought our own food. Its not advertised but there are kitchen facilities available if you need it... In the drawing room there is a pantry with fridge which was well stocked with our breakfast - smoked salmon, brie, oatcakes, fresh bread, yoghurt, cereals, fruit, chocolates, fudge, tea and coffee. We brought our own win. Plates, glasses all provided. We spent such an amazing time exploring the castle at our leisure. I'm not going to say much about this as its best you experience this by yourself!! Around the castle there are beautiful walks, town you can walk into in about 10 minutes if you want to do some shopping, go for a meal etc. Please do not hesitate to book this. Its worth every single penny and its an experience that you will never forget! I will definately be booking this again... Perhaps even 2 nights next time so we can enjoy this with even more time to explore.
