High atop 2,753-foot Mount magazine, the state's tallest mountain, this scenic Arkansas state park was developed in the Mount Magazine Ranger District of the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest through a special use permit from the U.S. Forest Service. Sweeping vistas of broad river valleys, deep canyons, and distant mountains welcome outdoor enthusiasts to Arkansas's high point. This is a place to enjoy sightseeing, exploring the mountain and nature study. The park is a destination for outdoor sports and extreme adventure enthusiasts that offers rock climbing, rappelling, hang-gliding, mountain biking, horseback riding, backpacking, and ATV adventure. An ATV guide service is available. The park also offers overlooks, hiking trails, a picnic area with restrooms, pavilion, and a visitor center with an exhibit gallery and gift shop. The park offers 18 campsites (two Class AAA and 16 Class AA with tent only options). The Lodge features 60 guest rooms, a restaurant, conference center, business center, indoor heated swimming pool, fitness center and game room. Thirteen fully equipped cabins share the same bluff and seeping views of the valley as the lodge.
Stayed two nights at the lodge. The rooms were satisfactory. Some had balconies which might have been interesting on a clear day. The views were spectacular. The fall colors were almost at their peak. The couple next door locked themselves out on the balcony at night and had to get help to get back in their room.
Did a little hiking one day. There were alot more trials I could have hiked. Most were easy to moderate.
The next day the whole place was socked in the clouds and VERY windy. Visibility was about 50 yards so didn't do any hiking. Interesting day none-the-less reading by the lodge fireplace.
I'd like to go back and catch it in the spring. Even an escape in the winter would be a cure for cabin fever.

I love to visit small town as we travel and see the different architecture. The courthouse is a beautiful old structure although it looks like it is in need of new paint. There is a small Eiffel Tower just across the street.

It's the highlight of a basically empty downtown. Don't head here to get supplies or a bite to eat. Maybe go for the photo op or to buy an antique at a nearby shop. Considering this town is very near a major Arkansas tourist destination it saddened me to see the depressed state of it and the true potential lost. It is full of possibilities and a couple of gems. I can see a downtown like Fort Smith or El Dorado working well here-a quaint opportunity.

The ride was fantastic and far exceeded our expectations. Kevin is a great guide who provides more than just a ride. His knowledge of the area and it's history is an added bonus to the ride. As others have mentioned the atv's are clean and well maintained. The scenery and interesting locations you see are amazing. We plan to return again and will recommend the tour to our friends. Thank you Kevin for a great day!

This winery was pretty small, which is okay, but they were celebrating some type of annual wine fest we had read about, but didn't really see any festival going on. They had no direction, no one to great you, just people wandering around as seemingly as confused as we were. You were allowed to taste 4 wines then after that you paid, and they did have some good wine. Problem was their wine tasting was where the cash register was, so really only one person could taste at a time. It was a pretty drive to get there, but the drive was so far, we really wished we had of skipped that one all together, as we saw no wine stomping as advertised, but maybe just overlooked it. It was one of those occasions that you just say, hmmm!

This may be off the beaten path but it is a must visit! Delicious and unique beers (she has brewed over 150 in 18 months) and excellent farm to table food or snacks on Saturday and Sunday. Thanks for the kind words, and for traveling off the beaten path to see us!

This museum and park memorializes the contributions of miners in the local coal industry. The memorial combines artifacts, structures and memorials to tell the story of how coal impacted Logan County. The small museum and house are only open on the weekend, but the grounds and memorial statue is able to be walked around anytime. The miners house is one of the best examples of how people lived I have seen set up anywhere. It's well worth the stop just to look a the wayside exhibits and see the old equipment.
