Wonderful! one of the best kept temple site across the world. Really worth a visit. The whole park is extremely well kept and easy to visit.

We were very impressed by the magnitude and splendor of this temple. Apart from the Greek ruins in Athens, this was the most impressive and well preserved Greek ruins that I’ve seen in my travels. It’s a bit treacherous walking around the site but the views and photos were amazing.

Paestum, Pompeii and Herculaneum guided tours with Silvia Braggio your personal historic guide. If you are planning a journey to Southern Italy include in your tour a visit to Paestum. The main reason to visit Paestum is to see three of the best preserved Greek temples in Italy, among which the oldest and best preserved of the Doric temples (550 b.C.). The site is very easy to explore, being a flat plain surrounded by fields and wildflowers. The site presents two distinct periods: the Greek city founded around 600 b.C. and the Roman city with public buildings and houses. The three Greek temples you see here today have stood for about 2,500 years.

Founded by Greek colonists, the ancient city of Poseidonia dates from 600 B.C. It was abandoned for centuries, but the remarkably well-preserved Greek temples were excavated in the mid-18th century.
3 large Greek temples still standing, a walled Greek and Roman city, absolutely incredible. So much less publicised than other places like Pompeii but no less impressive. The park is almost empty and you can just take your time and explore. The museum opposite is very interesting but prepare for a 30-40 minute wait due to covid distancing. Massive (patronising) tip: if you're going in the summer, bring a bottle of water with you into the park ????

The museum has an excellent array of artifacts, stone tablets, displays and information about this wonderful archeological site. Don't skip it. The walk through and around the temple ruins is amazing, taking you back hundreds of years. If you are driving, parking is available for a reasonable fee, but be aware that some of the roads are ZTL zones where cars are not permitted.

Part of the Paestum ruins is the amphitheatre which could be missed or confused with the council seating.
