Cheese farm the Ruyge Weyde is our fifth generation family company in Oudewater, where we make real Gouda Farmers Cheese since 1847. Nowadays there are about 17000 dairy farms in Holland, of which only about 100 make real farmers cheese from fresh ‘unpasteurised’ milk. From these are not much more than 10 dairy farms organic, including us! Come see the cows, taste the cheese, and buy in the shop.

Thanks to the rope industry, Oudewater was an extremely rich touw in the seventeenth century. The Rope Museum is set up in an old shed of a rope walk. It tells the story of hemp and rope. With the assistance of a museum employee you can make your own rope.
A small museum with great insight into the town and it's history with rope making. You even get to try your hand at making it on original equipment. The staff at the museum are wonderful!!! Highly recommend if you are in the area.

A great museum on the history of the persecution of "witches" in historical times. The building itself is lovely and the highlight is you get to step onto the original scales from the 1500's and receive an official letter if you are a witch or not. It's a fun and interesting time in a very cute dutch town. Highly recommend.
