While walking by the water we decided to stop and have a beer at this lovely place located in an old stone warehouse right on the Otaru canal. We were lucky we could sit outdoors by the canal and enjoy the scenery, the cruise boats passing and the beer. We did not try any food at that time but the beer was delicious and refreshing. Service was somewhat inexistant. You had to go and get your own beer at the bar. Inside, lots of carved wood, huge seating area and 2 huge copper brewery in the middle of the room. It has a feel of a German pub, noisy loud music. There are seating places on a balcony and on the second floor, there was a room with people playing jazz. It was well insulated because you could not hear it outside the room and there was a crowd of people listening and the music was far better than in the pub itself. It is a must place to visit for it is quite entertaining and relaxing if you sit outside. Basic price for beer is ¥470 for small, ¥610 for medium, and ¥1,200 for large. They have a choice of beers as well.
Leaving the metropolitan City Sapporo, let’s move to the another town nearby Sapporo. Otaru is famous for hand-made music box and glass products. It takes around 1 hour from Sapporo to Otaru. After spending a morning time on Otaru, we will move to northwestern part of Otaru – Shakotan. You can enjoy the excellent scene from the gift of nature.
Our Products We design our products by capturing the essence of timeless Otaru aesthetic that has been historically and culturally cultivated over the many years. From our very first days of our use of “the Former Otaru Warehouse”, we continue to offer quality items as if they have just arrived on Kitamae-bune cargo ships traveling the trade routes in bygone ages.
