A 1243 mile long river with 80 miles of canyons. Located between the states of Oregon and Washington.
What a beautiful area! We stopped at A few falls and then the scenic overview place. Multnomah Falls, Horseshoe Falls, and the Vista House. All in all it took only an a couple hours. I would like to go back someday and hike around the area.

This scenic coastal spot features a large rock with face-like features.
Face Rock State Park has a myriad of beautiful sea stacks that make for exceptional photography in the right lighting conditions. Face Rock itself is not all that interesting on its own, but the large number of beautiful sea stacks are simply terrific. Definitely worth a stop if you are near Bandon Beach,

Wildlife Images is non-profit wildlife rehabilitation and education center in beautiful Southern Oregon. We have been a non-profit since 1981, when our mission of Saving Wildlife started. Our center includes a wildlife hospital for wild patients and permanent residents, youth camps throughout the year, and over 80 permanent residents who cannot be released back to the wild. By taking a tour you can view a great assortment of birds, smaller mammals, reptiles, and large mammals such as cougars, bears and wolves! The tours provide a unique, up-close encounter with wildlife that is not seen every day.
Wildlife Images his a hidden gem in Grants Pass, Oregon. You can get up close and personal with Mountain Lions, Bobcats, A Grizzly Bear, Otters, Owls and all kinds of Birds of Prey! Spectacular experience and must see when traveling to Southern Oregon.

Visited here after searching for places on the coast that are handicapped accessible. It’s a beautiful place and David, the good-hearted and knowledgeable caretaker, took us on a long tour through all the trails in their resident golf cart, sharing info along the way about the history, flora and fauna of the place. It would be a beautiful place to hike, but this also made it a great visit for us since my wife isn’t able to walk. And they welcome dogs as well!

The trails are covered and protected from the harsh summer sun, so that makes the hiking/trekking much easier. The entire trail is along the Salmon River and is just lovely and quaint. There are bathrooms and lots of picnic tables and water stations next to the tables. I wished we brought picnic food. Be sure to put on bug guards. Those mosquitos are hearless!

Call ahead to arrange a tour. Ours was about 2 hours, and the guide was fantastic. We didn't get into the rehab area, where birds are being nurtured back to health and freedom. We got to see the "ambassador" birds (plus one possum and one turtle) up (very) close. We got to meet and learn about several owls, some falcons, a bunch of eagles and some hawks. I even came to appreciate turkey vultures! This is very much worth your time -- and money. There is no fee for the tour, but we made a donation equal to what we'd expect to pay at a place like this. I encourage you, too, to donate. Oh. Check their Facebook page, too.

Just another amazing American road side natural attraction, the Jewelll Mountain Elk Reserve is definitely work a stop. We happened on this by chance; a logging truck was tailgating us on Hwy 26 so we pulled over. In front of us was an expansive green meadow with many elk chilling in the light rain. So peaceful, serene, and natural. We felt blessed chance brought us here. Plan you stop to be sure not to miss!

A popular destination for nature lovers, this arboretum contains many different species of trees.
The Hoyt Arboretum park is absolutely gorgeous in the fall. We hiked about 4 miles today following the Wildwood Trail and several smaller trails from the rose garden to the Hoyt Arboretum visitor center and back. The trail was not difficult but following the exact loop was sometimes not clear with the map we had. You could easily spend all day roaming and exploring. There are memorials and old douglas fir trees, etc all through the park. It's so close to downtown Portland, yet you feel as if you're in the country.
