The neighbourhood is an upscale one with immense villas and beautiful houses. Mixing with them a moderate small houses and small restaurants. There is a cozy cake shop well known to the local as well as visitors situated amongst thee restaurants. I like the area away from busy diwnton of Opitija.

Mošćenička Draga is an amazing small fishing village that has so much to offer. Besides great food, amazing beach and the most beautiful clear blue see, you can take a day trip and explore the wild side of the Island Cres, the picturesque surrounding islands of Krk and Rab. We booked a day trip with Ondine taxi boat /trip with captain Dany, that is the main caracter and the funniest guy I have meet. We started in the morning easily at 11 am, no rush, with lots of fruit, drinks, food and a good music. 10 of friends and family with no main plan, we haded to the open see. The view to Mošćenička Draga from behind was just breathtaking. But what was in front of us was even more inviting. Blue see, blue sky, bunch of islands, really what a nature. Music on the boat, some rakija (Croatian short drink), sun and wind in the hair, had, whathever felt amazing. You can sit behing, or go on the sun infront or even climb on the roof. You can do whathever makes you feel happy. We first stop at the wild beach on island Cres, swimm a bit, had some great sausage with hommade bread, homemade tomatos, snorkeled a bit around, had fun jumping from the boat, danced, laughed and then haded to town Beli on Island Cres. An amazing little town at the beach and up on a small hill. You can walk up or drive with train. Up is a great restaurant, museum, church, and everything is in stones. Down by the beach there is also a great restaurant, always some music, locals playing, so some relaxed dancing and singing moves away from it all are just flipping up your vains and butt. And you would not believe it, a zip line just accross the sea from one side to the other. Now that you really have to try. Awsame. And so the day was slightly going to the end and we haded back. When we though we have done and saw all, the islands, the beach, under the sea, old town, driving with train, zip line, having some dance etc, that was not all. The sunset, and not only one, but 3 of them, while driving by all this islands parts took my breath away. I climbed on the roof and had a time of my life. I even stopped making pictures, I stopped thinking and just admired. The music was just right, the wind, it was warm enough. Now that was the day to remember. So when in Mošćenička Draga find captain Dejan, "Ondine" and prepare yourself to one of the most joyable trips that you will definitely enjoy and remember.

We had some meeting in Volosko and after we wanted to walk a little in Opatija. Usually in summer it is not possible to park car here but it was late and we had lack. We find a place in one private small parking. It was expensive but we was happy. It was very ALIVE on Opatija's lungo mare, or riva as you like. Lot of people, music. For me it is always nice to just walk here, sit , eat ice cream or some of fantastic cakes, and have something to drink by the sea. What can you want more of life. Opatija is small but so beautiful OLD LAY like people call this city. One of splendid stars in tourism in Croatia. Always GREAT. If you want you can walk more by the sea for kilometers and also drink something in nice beach bar on the Opatia's beach. here you can lay down on beach beds or just sit and drink or eat something in this nice place.

Extensive park with things to see around every corner. Bright cheerful flower displays and Swiss House Museum in the park well worth a look.

This lovely statue of the Girl with the Seagull (1956) stands on a rock by the Lungo Mare promenade near the boat harbour. She has come to be an icon of Opatija.

The Croatian Museum of Tourism was established in 2007 and its headquarters were purposefully located in Opatija - the city where Croatian tourism was born and whose growth was completely intertwined with tourism. This unique museum collects, investigates and displays objects and stories that bear witness to the rich history of tourism in Croatia, but it also raises the question of how tourism today affects all of us - how our cities are changing, as well as how we change by traveling and welcoming travelers. The museum has three locations in the center of Opatija - villa Angiolina and Swiss House in the Angiolina Park and Juraj Sporer Art Pavilion in St. Jacob’s Park.

Quaint little church in the centre of Opatija, across from Villa Angelina which is the tourism museum and next to the hotel Kvarner which is the first hotel in Opatija and a few steps away from the lady and the seagull statue at the waterfront. Lovely trees and seats around for resting and paths to walkaround.
