The historic center of Bruges has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000 thanks to its status as one of the commercial and cultural capitals of Europe and its enduring Gothic architecture. The Belgian city center is cited as a great example of a medieval historic settlement, even while it has evolved over the years.
We spend 2 days and a night at Brugge what an amazing place. I would say there are two Bruges the best me during the day full of tours filled with tourists and the second if you spend the night more relax an peaceful.

This is really not an old castle, but one built to look like one. It cost about 20 euro from the center of town to get there by taxi and then the entrance fee on top of that.

Do you want to impress your friends or family with delicious handmade truffles? Or what about a classic chocolate bonbon, filled with irresistible hazelnut stuffing, Baileys or (salted) caramel? Why not go all the way and spice up your own stuffing with a wide range of flavourings, herbs and even Flowers! Chocolates Made By Me is the place to be!
My wife and I spent an enjoyable and informative afternoon at Chocolates Made By Me – it was great fun.
The workshops are run by Stephanie, a master chocolatier who studied the art (or should that be science?) of chocolate-making from the age of 11. We booked on the ‘chocolate romance’ for two people, but there are also group workshops available.
Ahead of the day, we were sent detailed instructions on how to get to her farm (it is in a remote location, but not far from Bruges). When we arrived Stephanie was waiting at the door for us, smiling from ear to ear – we felt at ease straight away.
After a brief introduction to chocolate, we made a chocolate heart and a selection of chocolates, including pralines and truffles. I had previously informed Stephanie that I was diabetic and she had thoughtfully found some sugar-free recipes and bought sugar-free ingredients so we ended up making double the amount of chocolates – some sugar-free and some with sugar. There were over 50 recipes with sugar for my wife to choose from. The chocolates we made tasted delicious. I even tried taking some chocolate ‘snuff’, but will stick to eating it in future!
Stephanie is a great tutor. She certainly knows her subject and is able to explain things simply and clearly. Her English is perfect.
If you like chocolate (who doesn’t?) I thoroughly recommend Chocolates Made By Me in the country that has made chocolate its own.

The Burg Square near the Markt place is one of the most beautifull places from Bruges.
You can take a lot of photo's from the City Hall, the Church of the Holy blood, the lovely other buildings on this square, the horse drawn carriages, etc. You can set on terras or in tearoom and look to the many visiting people. A must see if you visit the old town of Bruges.

We took a tour of this brewery. It was very interesting and they offered a beer at the end. We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing near the bar on the sofa and enjoying our drink. It was a nice activity to escape the crowds in Bruges.

There are over 50 Bridges in Bruges and infact the name Bruges is derived from the word bridge. St. Bonifacius bridge is a very picturesque place to come over a canal and is very charming.
