Obsidian wines are the true embodiment of their place of origin. Every exquisite glass of Obsidian speaks of this unique terroir, encapsulating not only the character of the weathered soils at Onetangi, home to Obsidian's vineyard on Waiheke Island, but the coastal beauty of the surrounding environment. Tucked away in an amphitheater setting amongst the vines, Obsidian offers wine tastings in a relaxed and friendly environment. Our knowledgeable cellar door staff will take you through a range of Obsidian Reserve & Non-Reserve wines. All are available to purchase in the shop. We're currently just operating on Saturday's and Sunday's 11am to 5pm however please check Google, or our website for the most up to date information on our opening hours. Thank you.
This was the last stop on our winery tour, beautiful wine, brilliant service cannot ask for any more than that!

The Honey House Cafe has an exceptional home made brunch menu and delicious ice cream sandwiches, teas and coffees. Our tasting room and shop features free sampling of our famous organically farmed Honeys and Olive oils. All this is set in our Olive Grove of 1000 trees and extensive wetlands. The park like setting allows for relaxed and informal time off the beaten track.
We were exploring the island and stumbled upon this absolutely stunning cafe. It is on a private 15 acres that is filled with olive trees and a gorgeous wetlands/river flowing through the middle. Try the ham and cheese croque - it was perfect. The coffees and the homemade ginger ale were 10/10 too. This was by far our favorite spot on the island and highly recommend it to anyone who’s looking for top notch food with even better views

A walking tour of this picturesque vineyard reveals beautiful roses interspersed with the grape vines, used to make the vineyard's signature Larose Bordeaux style red wine.
We took the public bus from Oneroa for a 15 minute ride to Stonyridge. It's a 5 to 10 minute walk from the road end uphill to the vineyard. All worth it to enjoy some tastings on the Island and not to worry about who was going to drive! On the day we were fortunate to be the first to arrive at the picture postcard setting and were warmly welcomed by a German member of staff who was happy to organise our tastings. We had our pick of the tables on the terrace and selected one overlooking the countryside. To maximise our choice we shared a Standard and a Premium tasting at $15 & $28 respectively, which provided a white and two reds in each category. The tasting menus provided all the information required so we were left to enjoy the wines at our own pace in a relaxing setting. We enjoyed them all but the clear winner for us was the Stonyridge Pilgrim 2018 and we were happy to purchase a bottle at the cellar door for $95 (£47) when we left. Little did we realise at the time but about three weeks later we eventually opened that bottle and enjoyed it on the decking of our accommodation in Wanaka during Covid-19 lockdown! Every cloud has a silver lining. As part of the international staff present, a young Irish woman engaged us in a bit of chat before we departed and gave us walking directions to the nearby Te Motu Vineyard and Tantalus Estate where her boyfriend worked. (I expect that with staff discount this couple's wine rack would be one to admire). Overall a very enjoyable start to our day and only a short walk through the countryside to our next stop...Te Motu.
