January 2, 2022 Alice Mieles

Oldsmar is a city in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 13,591. The Oldsmar name dates to April 12, 1916 when automobile pioneer Ransom E. Olds purchased 37,541 acres (151.92 km) of land by the northern part of Tampa Bay to establish "R. E. Olds-on-the-Bay". The name was later changed to Oldsmar, then to "Tampa Shores" in 1927, and finally back to Oldsmar in 1937. Ransom Olds named some of the original streets himself, such as Gim Gong Road for Lue Gim Gong.

R. E. Olds Park

Since Covid, we keep our sanity by doing curbside delivery from Subway or Panera and then going to a park for a picnic lunch. We try to go to different parks just to explore and for a change of pace. We tried this one for the first time. Sat on a bench with a clear view of Tampa Bay as the picnic tables are under shelters and mangroves along the shore line block the view of the water. We enjoyed it!

We saw Avengers Infinity War at AMC Woodlands in Dolby, awesome picture & sound with reclining seats that are sooo comfortable. Modern & well maintained with a friendly staff and managers - this may be the best AMC we’ve visited.

Oldsmar Flea Market

Founded nearly 40 years ago, the Oldsmar Flea Market has grown into one of Tampa Bay’s top attractions. At 28 acres, the Market is one of the largest on Florida’s West Coast and features hundreds of top vendors of furniture, local produce, gourmet food, antiques, modern and contemporary household items, clothing electronics, jewelry, art, exotic plants, golf and fishing goods, and much more. With its high-quality items and chic hidden treasures, the Market has become a favorite destination for merchandisers, decorators and trendsetters. In 2018, Tampa Bay entrepreneur, Grady C. Pridgen III of Pridgen Development, acquired the Oldsmar Flea Market. Pridgen Development’s mission is to enhance the human experience. With that in mind, Mr. Pridgen’s goals are to help the vendors succeed, make the experience fun and rewarding for visitors, and support local businesses. Mr. Pridgen’s ultimate vision is to transform the Oldsmar Flea Market into a world-class market and gathering destination.

Since the Mustang and Wagon Wheel Flea market closed, it is very hard to find Asian fruits and vegetables. I visited Oldsmar Flea Market and there was a great Produce stand in "E" row called Lek's produce that had a great selection of Asian and Indian produce. They have been there over 25 years! WOW! A must visit. Guaranteed they will have fruits and vegetables you have never seen before!
