Where do I start?! As my husband and I were starting to plan our vacation to Europe one of my must do's was to go and see the Canadian monument, Vimy Ridge. Although I have no present knowledge of relatives who were a part of WW1, as a Canadian, as a child of a serviceman from WW2, a brother, a nephew and my husband have or still do serve, my interest in of taking up the torch to remember and honour those who gave so much. I searched online for tours, months before we left Canada, and came across this tour company "Battlefield Tours". I am unable to say enough wonderful things about this tour company, Claude and his knowledge, kindness, and patience with me as I was becoming more and more interested with each gravesite and monument. I started to look for my family name on graves and found many. Claude obviously had a schedule and I am sure I tested his time but he understood how this was becoming more and more important than even I had imagined. We opted for the private tour and found that it was worth every nickel. Claude has amazing knowledge, passion and obvious great interest in these sites and the history of the European "War To End All Wars". You will NOT be disappointed in this tour company, Battlefield Tours, and I HIGHLY recommend it!

Claude was prompt in picking us up from our hotel in Lille and then took us to see the final resting places of two of our family members, who were both killed in 1918. He was very flexible and worked in with our plans to visit these two graves at two different war cemeteries. He then took us around numerous battlefield sites and war cemeteries, involving New Zealanders, and his knowledge was first class. For that special day in connecting with those special soldiers, contact Claude and he will make it happen.

My husband and I were on a short trip to Paris for his work. On the day he had mostly off, we had Frederic drive us to Bruges since we had never been to Belgium and the pictures looked amazing. After a very comfortable ride there, Frederic started a walking tour with us in the morning and we quickly realized the pictures did not do this quaint city justice! We felt like Disney had created this perfect little town for people to see. Frederic walked us around before we stopped for lunch together. He was going to leave us to dine alone but we asked him to join us because we enjoyed his company so much and we wanted to hear more about the city. After lunch, he gave us the option of having him continue to walk us around or we could explore on our own. We chose to explore on our own since we felt he had given us such a good overview that morning. We had plans to tour the Chocolate Museum but when we arrived, it was closed due to the time of year. We actually didn't mind much and we just spent the day wandering the beautiful streets around the canals and stopping for hot chocolate and waffles. I would highly suggest a visit to Bruges to feel like you have stepped back in time. Speaking of time, we toured in January and lucked out that it wasn't extremely cold. The crowds were very low so it was easy to wander the streets and sometimes we found ourselves the only ones exploring the small alleyways. I would definitely return to Bruges one day and would highly suggest taking this tour especially if it is your first visit or if you have very limited time in the city.

This lovely domain, albeit bearing the name of whipped cream (chantilly in French) is all about the horses. Traditionally, this domain is dedicated to horse breading and horse races – one of the greatest horse racing events, prix de Dianne, is annually held here. The culture, the heritage and the history of this unique place all revolve around horses – so much so, that the legend of the princes of Condé is woven with their presence, actual and symbolic.

Boris was our tour guide for a trip to France in December, 2019. We visited The Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, and spent a day seeing WWII sites in Normandy. Boris made all the arrangements ahead of time, and was an incredible guide throughout our stay in France. My mom, aunt, and I recently did a virtual tour of Versailles with Boris; and while not as good as being there in person, it was a great way to see this beautiful palace. Boris' knowledge of history, culture, and architecture are absolutely incredible. We learned so much! Boris made the whole thing easy, fun and informative. It was great catching up with all that is going on in Paris. If you've got "travel fever" like we do, I would highly recommend booking a virtual tour with Boris at Paris in Person to tide you over until we can visit Europe again safely. Thank you, Boris!

November 11th is a day of remembrance in the US for all of our veterans but this day holds a very special meaning to everyone affected by WW1. In 1918, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month the War to End All Wars was over. I had very little knowledge of the details other than my grandfather’s recently discovered military records from his service in Europe during WW1. Regis was able to use these few details to discover my grandfather’s exact battlefield locations and the significance of his unit’s contribution to the war effort. I was so enthralled by my 1st tour in November of 2019, that I booked another private tour with Regis in February 2020. Regis was able to expand on my knowledge of the war and of my grandfather’s role in the overall Allied effort. Now after a year has passed, I can reflect on this experience and humbly try to express my thanks to Regis for his extraordinary knowledge and interest in the history of his country and the Allies during WW1 and WW2. I hope to be able to return soon when the situation allows, and to explore more of the lessons of this important time. On this special day, I want to extend a special thanks to Regis for 2 incredible tours and for my deepened understanding of a grandfather’s legacy.

I contacted Antoine a few months before our planned trip, and his responses were always prompt and helpful. He met us at the train station, got us set up with all our gear, and sent us happily on our way. I was visiting Chantilly specifically to see the horse museum at the Chateau, but travelling with me were my husband and 3 yo. Museums are not my daughter's thing, so she and her Dad had a great time (occasionally getting a bit lost!) in the Chantilly forest on an electric bike with rear-mounted child seat, while I enjoyed the museum. Afterwards we all met up and went for a ride to a site within the forest that Antoine recommended, and it really was just a lovely day. At the end of the day we were able to leave the bikes locked up at the train station at our convenience, for Antoine to collect at his convenience. Unfortunately all the bike parking by 5pm was chock-full, but we were just waiting for the next train so didn't mind staying with the bikes until Antoine came to pick them up. The full day cost us 75 euro, which isn't exactly cheap, but it was so worth it. The bikes and equipment were in great condition, and the pick-up and drop-off service that Antoine provides is so convenient that I think it was money well spent. I highly recomment Antoine and his Bobebikes!

We are travelling from Australia and have previously visited other countries prior to to France which had amazing service and friendlyness. However 5minutes in France we found them to be rude 10minutes in and they were pushing us, 30minutes and pickpocketed. My advice when you get off the train is get back on and try a different country. Try Ireland, England or even Amsterdam. We are counting down the minutes to get out of this thieving, smelly, rude, dirty country Cheers
