Best views from Samuel's Fortress in Ohrid, dates from antique historian Livy from 209 BC. Ohrid is the largest city on Lake Ohrid and the eighth-largest city in Macedonia. The 360 degree views of the village, lake and mountains, just beautiful and only 10 minutes from the old town, the fortress rises to 100 meters above the level of the lake. The fortress is quite dilapidated, therefore can be unsafe with all the small stairs to climb as some are withering away. A small fee to enter, 60 Denar each (€1) and 1 hour maximum to explore. The beautiful fortress can be seen from most areas of the city as you roam around, always providing a wonderful view, especially with the Macedonian flag flying high. Be sure to include the Old Ancient Theatre and Church of Saints Clement and Panteleimon to your walking tour, as they are all 10 minutes from each other, and all have the most wonderful views of Ohrid and full of rich history.

We went by ourselves first and we missed a lot of things. Luckily, a guide approached us and offered to give us a tour. It was one of the most beautiful days of my life! So many precious information about the mosaics, about Ohrid, about the history of other churches!
