If you are looking for an active place to stay with world-class attractions, Ohio’s major cities can satisfy any vacation desire. Each offers its own distinct flavor of fun, from professional sports – Bengals (Cincinnati), Cavaliers (Cleveland) and Indians (Cleveland again) – to museums, outdoor activities and more. One of the most famous is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. If football is your thing, don’t miss the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. For the science-minded, visit the meat eaters at the Carnivore Conservation Center in the Wilds near Cambridge, dedicated to the breeding and scientific study of endangered mid-sized carnivores. Kids will also love Planet Snoopy in Sandusky or the Columbus Zoo’s Zoombezi Bay Waterpark and Jack’s Landing rides.

At The Farm at Walnut Creek, you will find both a unique and educational experience for the entire family. On your visit, you will have the opportunity to view and feed 650 domestic species as well as animals from six different continents – buffalo, llamas, giraffes, deer, elk and much more. Enjoy hand feeding these animals from the comfort of your own car or take our leisurely horse drawn wagon ride with our experienced Amish guides. Also, plan to visit our barns - all built to resemble a working Amish farm. Depending on the season, you can experience plowing, thrashing, sowing seeds, growing produce, canning, milking, quilting, and baking. Be sure to take a stroll through our non-electric farm houses, the produce stand for all of your fresh produce needs, and don’t forget your camera to capture the memories. Be sure to ask questions of our Amish staff - they'll be happy to explain. We recommend you budget about 2 to 3 hours for a visit to The Farm.
My granddaughter and I spent a hot August day here; next time we'll come earlier in the morning. Our wagon tour guide - an older man - was beyond excellent ... a good sense of humor, informative, encouraging about feeding the animals along the way ... and just superb!! We then walked around the beautiful property - saw the other animals, walked across on the covered bridge, walked thru the house; and my granddaughter even continued to feed the curious - and hungry - goats. It was a memorable day; and will be a "repeat" if we're back in the area!! I thank the women in the Craft Mall at Schrock's Village for recommending it!

Fun place for families or couples. We picked our own apples and sunflowers and got cider from the market.

Park that features a working farm and the 32-room country home built by Pulitzer prize-winning author, Louis Bromfield.
We've been to Malabar Farm State Park on different occasions. There is lots to do and really anyone can find something of interest. One time, we took a house tour. It was interesting and the guide was informative. We went in the summer and it was a pretty large group that toured when we did. We took my 90 year old grandmother and the ranger was very accommodating, driving her to the house from the parking lot. Be warned that some of the information provided about the home/family isn't really for younger ears. Many famous names made stops in the house. Another tour, we've been on is the farm hay ride. It is a bit bumpy of course. The tour guide talks about the tree from Shawshank Redemption (although it is gone now), the Ceely House, the cemetery, the farm and grounds. Do this when temperatures are comfortable. It was almost too hot the day we went. Just last month, we went for a hike. While the trails are not well marked, apparently new maps had confused the color codes too, but that is something I'm told the park is working on in the near future. We had a difficult time locating the exact location of the butternut trail, but when we found it all was well worth it. Fern and moss stretch over large boulders. Veering to the left is a cave that you can explore and climb out by going straight back and then to the left and out. Though be cautious there is one place with a drop off. We accidentally happened upon a guide that was wonderful and let us tag along with him through the cave and gave us directions for following the loop of the trail. We've also gone up to the top of Mount Jeez. Beautiful views of the river and farm. We had a picnic lunch. A rule for driving down...look to see if someone is coming up before you drive back down and wait for them to come up. There are picnic tables scattered over the farm and a playground that is in great condition for the kids. They have festivals and events throughout the year to check out and hopefully the restaurant will open back up soon.

Located just south of Wooster overlooking the beautiful Kilbuck Valley, Pine Tree is a 25,000 square foot restored bank barn home to a gourmet luncheon restaurant, boutique, gift shop, family Christmas tree farm, year-round Christmas shop and home furnishings and interior design studio. In season, dine outdoors on our roof deck overlooking the Kilbuck Valley, lakes and Christmas tree farm.
The Pine Tree Barn is truely a hidden treasure. The family has created a great niche. The food is amazing and they have created a beautiful and affordable furniture store in the same building. The restaurant is called The Granary and the gift shop and furniture store is called the Pine Tree Barn.

This is a pretty large place with a main building offering baked goods, apples and other items. Outside are vendors selling kettle corn, vegetables and other items. Everything we purchased was delicious - apple cider, blueberry pie, honeycrisp apples, hot peppers, kettle corn, cantalope.
