What to do and see in Ocean Beach, California (CA): The Best Outdoor Activities

June 8, 2021 Almeta Stockton

San Diego embodies laid-back California culture, complete with a Boardwalk, surfing communities, and outstanding Mexican food. Breathe in the fresh ocean air at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park, then gobble down a fresh fish taco at a La Jolla seafood joint. The naval aircrafts at the USS Midway Museum will have you standing at attention. A free Sunday concert at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion is the perfect way to unwind after a Saturday night bar-hop in the thumping Gaslamp Quarter.

Ocean Beach Municipal Pier

Reviewed By gabi_kansas - Shawnee, United States

The pier itself is filled with things to see. Watch the surfers, rent a fishing pole, watch the pelicans, grab a bite to eat, or watch people. The pier is made of concrete, so walking is easy. Homeless people do tend to congregate on the pier, which can be uncomfortable. Be sure to explore underneath the pier as well, especially at low tide. There are tide pools and the rocks are easy to walk out on to explore. Sunsets are gorgeous and views are amazing.
