One of the world’s most beautiful church’s on top of the Hollerberg surrounded by mostly in tact and beautifully renovated half-timbered houses making up the ‚Altstadt‘ (old town) of Oberursel. A highlight is the church tower which you can ascend during the summer. It‘s church bells ???? were renowned for their Tritonus ring, whereas the current Westminster Quarters ring since 2018 is very pleasant to the ears. The organ that has been continually upgraded since 1789 was fully restored in 2006 is not only a dream to hear but also to look at. As an ensemble the Altstadt of Oberursel is probably one of the most stunning old towns in the close vicinity of Frankfurt. Walking up the Strackgasse past the ‚slanted‘ market, through the old town halls gate to St. Ursula reminds me of the walk from Largo da se up to the ruins of St Paul in Macau - but St Ursula is a beauty and not a ruin. It is a pity that there is not more gastronomy in the old town - only around the Marktplatz and the renowned Zum Schwanen on the left when you walk up to St Ursula. With some Cafés & Lokal restaurants in the Area the Oberursel Altstadt would be a top destination for visitors to Frankfurt. Nevertheless, for photo enthusiasts the road to and around St Ursula will be a unforgettable experience.

Stroll through this amazingly kept medieval gem with it's cobbled streets and lovingly preserved half-timbered houses making you feel like in another era. On the top of the hill you will find the stunning St. Ursula church, who's tower you can ascend in Summer for magnificent views of Bad Homburg, Frankfurt and beyond... enjoy a sumptuous dinner at one of the restaurants at the old slanted Marktplatz after your excursion into the past.
