This was our last hike on our way out of the park. I believe the trailhead is right inside the West Park entrance. Be sure to pack a couple bottles of water, as the hike up is fairly steep (the 10,000' to 10,500' elevation over the saddleback of a ridge, took us 1.5 hrs to hike up, then theres a 200' hike down to the lakes. middle Gaylor Lake is what you see as you top the ridge, then you can hike down and to your right and find upper Gaylor Lake. Those were the ones we hiked to & they were beautiful. We had a picnic lunch overlooking the middle lake & listened to the frogs. Saw a hummingbird moth which I'd never even heard of but was fascinating, and a Marmot.

We ate here based on our AirBNB hosts recommendation. Although we had a 35 minute wait due to the popularity of the restaurant, the food was worth waiting for. The sweet potato fries, BBQ burger, and various salads were of the highest quality and very fresh. Also the locally brewed beer is also a plus to go along with the food. Even though we're only here for a few days we'll probably go back.

We focus on single-vineyard designated wines: Rhone varieties from select Madera County vineyards, Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir and Clarksburg Tempranillo, Petite Sirah and Cabernet Franc. Our wines are produced in small lots. We use sustainably grown grapes and make the wine gently, using native yeasts, gravity flow and other traditional methods. We offer lunch Thursday thru Monday and Sunday brunch. We are located at the Queen's Inn By The River, our quaint 8-room inn and wine bar on the Fresno River.
We found Idle Hour on our search for a place to meet with family at a half way point in CA since some were driving from Bakersfield and the other from Sacramento. It ended up being a perfect day and we were pleasantly delighted in our visit to Idle Hour Winery and Kitchen. They just opened after being closed for some time and added a marketplace to purchase their wines as well as some delicious spiced honey. We had lunch outside on a platform placed directly in the sun to keep us warm. We order the tasting as well as the cheese platter with fruit and meat. That was when we had a taste of their honey. Yum. The salad they made was with crispy artichoke hearts on a bean puree. So delicious. As each wine was brought out we received an overview of the wine we were tasting. The labels are beautiful and interesting story behind them. They had a small menu but I have to say that what they served was worth the trip.
