Horton Plains National park is located in the hill country of Sri Lanka. It is not very accessible as the roads are narrow and steep. A payment has to be made to visit the park and the price for 2 adults at the local rate wa approx. Rs. 600. When we visited the customer service centre on the premises we were informed that we should pay the rate for foreigners which was Rs. 3000 each, although we were born in Sri Lanka and spoke the national language fluently. The women at this centre were extremely aggressive and threatened to take us to court if we did not pay this grossly over-priced rate. The entire conversation took place in Fluent Sinhalese and we showed them our place of birth as Colombo, Sri Lanka on our Australian passports. One of the women even attempted to snatch the passports away from us. We therefore reluctantly paid the higher rate, after further argument, for the sake of peace. The males at this centre were quite amenable and were in agreement with us rather than the women. We strongly believe that this money found its way into their pockets.

Very nice falls. They have built a building where the best view point is and there is a little museum in that building. Don't miss this it's very educational for kids and adults.

We didn't have time to walk up as we went after a visit to the tea plantation late afternoon. The falls themselves are visually unimpressive so if you're not going for the views don't waste your time.

We stopped off to have a quick look at this Temple from the road. It is very attractive and it was a shame that we did not have time to look around inside as it is spiritually important.

This is a nice fall but bit far from the view point. Still worth the visit and it is close to St Clair's Falls. Unlike St Clair's Falls this fall is constant and the water never gets diverted.

Nice tour of the tea processing facility with a knowledgeable guide who spoke very good English. Not so impressed with the way the guide said we could/should tip her afterwards then walked away as soon as she got some money.
The free tea was not as good as I expected from a tea plantation, seemed to have been brewed too long.
The shop was good - every kind of tea and no pressure to buy anything.

Haggala Gardens is a place I have always wanted to visit and was really glad I did so. Amazing flora and fauna boasts the wonder of Nature. Some trees date back a many years. Even bought some plants back home.

As we are a bit dissapointed about Nuwara Eliya town we decided to go outside to visit a farm wich was a good decision. The farm gives a close contact to the animals and we think the farm was very well maintained. We all liked this place! The drive there was really nice (we took a tuktuk and the driver waited there for us, cost 2500 R).
