I thoroughly recommend visiting Ancient Tonga when you visit this island paradise!
This is a family run business, who really care about it's visitors and who know a lot about Tongan history.
They do various shows and demonstrations that are really entertaining and are quite happy to answer any questions and pose for numerous photos.
I'm so glad we went there on our holiday. It was the highlight of our trip!

We had a fantastic time on our whale swim tour! Two of us had never even snorkelled before and the crew were very accommodating of this. It was relatively easy to pick up and we did not need any previous skills. We ended up seeing several whales, including a baby with its mother. The included lunch was great and all the gear we used was good quality. The only downside to the whole day was the slight seasickness, but this is unavoidable!

Free Church of Tonga

Reviewed By Rob M - Adelaide, Australia

It's believed the Free Church of Tonga (FCT) was instituted by King Tupou the First in the early 1800's. Other christian churches then followed. The FCT have churches all around the Kingdom of Tonga. As almost everything is closed in Tonga on Sundays, except the churches, it's a great experience to go past, or enter the churches to hear the glorious singing & observe the locals of all ages in their 'Sunday Best'

Talamahu Markets

From back in the day to today this place has always been bustling with life. This was the hub where you could sell your fruits or your wares and catch up on life with all the other people and learn the news. Outside of the market there are old timers playing checkers and bingo is just 3 blocks down. The bus depot is around the corner and a block away. Police station and supermarket are also across the street. Everything was built around here. You can get the best deals on your souvenirs or your fruit. The prettiest mats to wear or flowers for your hair. You can literally find everything you need here. The prices are cheap you are open to haggle if you wish but it is definitely a big part of history see it on a saturday and it's even busier than any other day.

We did a 90mins treatment package (massage, scrub and wrap) with them. My partner and myself agreed we only enjoy their massage service. I think next time we will opt for massage. After scrub there is no shower for us, they just clean using towels...MoreHello, and thanks for your feedback. The building of a luxurious bathroom is definitely part of our phase 2 plans!

We booked this tour company as we were visiting Nuku'alofa on a cruise ship and the shore tours were really expensive. Our guides Sela and Vaka were lovely and made us feel very welcome. Vaka is a skilled orator who was able to give us lots of information about places we were visiting. They took us to see the spectacular blowholes, and gave us information about haggling with people and their market stalls. We then went to the Haamonga, to gas Stonehenge, and then went to Anahulu cave.mthis cave was a spectacular cavern, with steps inside. You wander in past stalactites, and stalagmites, then there is a huge fresh water pool. It was wonderful. We then went to see the fruit bats which were incredible. When we asked for traditional Tongan food for lunch, they took us to a place in town. On appearances it didn't look great, but tasted ok, and we never got sick. Had an enjoyable day with Teta Tours. They offer a range of tours at great prices ( we paid $135 Tongan pagaa, for one adult and three children for the day). We were thrilled

Because the gates are kept locked, you can't get close enough to appreciate their beauty and historical value. There is not any guest area where you can learn about the history of the kings, so you are mostly left wondering what you have seen.

Kingdomkoffie

Reviewed By Suli and Toa L

I love the taste of Tongan coffee, which is widely available in Nuku'alofa's coffee shops. I would recommend Kingdom Koffie look at selling coffee bags or pods which are more commonly used overseas. There is a limited availability at shops in Tonga and this could be a great future export as the west seeks more exotic flavours.
