This internationally renowned theater is an architectural masterpiece and includes two well-known ballet and opera groups.
Somewhat unusual choice. 'Coppelia' isn't a very populated ballet, at home they had moved it to the New Stage with less than 900 seats. Here in Novosibirsk the theatre is the biggest in the country – that is, the building, the seating capacity of the main hall after the renovation is about 1400, as far as I remember. And they are always full-booked! Like all theatres designed in 1930-s it is planned as circles going around the stage; no boxes, just one 'open space'. The good thing is that the view is fairly good thanks to very steep steps. That is unless you have a seat somewhere in the corner. But you really don't need to do that, as the tickets are not so awfully expensive, compared with what we are used to in Moscow. The ballet was really charming! It's sort of a fairy-tale, based on Hoffmann's works, but much more cheerful. To enhance the magic they used modern visual graphics; I am generally not a huge fan, but to my surprise it merged well with the traditional ballet skills. I've heard sometimes they offer backstage tours, or maybe, guided tours around the building - very much worth a visit; a splendidly furbished foyer, and the newly-renovated audience-hall. Highly recommend!

Housed in an historic mansion, this museum explores the history and ethnography of Siberia, including its colonization, fashions, lifestyles and flora and fauna.
Very interesting displays supported by the presence of archeologists. Very worthwhile for interested citizens, tourests and students.

An intriguing array of over 500 Russian icons spanning four centuries is a highlight of this museum that also features Russian art from the 18th to 20th centuries and a small foreign art collection.

We visited this tiny chapel in the middle of a major road and chanced on a service being held, The Russian priest and his two supporters singing was mystical and magical. It was a truly a special moment in this enchanting ginger bread house of a chapel

As my heading says I really like this church. The people that work there are quite relaxed and let you take photos. The murals on the roof and walls are quite beautiful and tell stories. I’ve been here a few time already and like to wander around inside. Worth a visit/ 10
