Wheatfen Nature Reserve Surlingham

Spent a couple of hours walking round the reserve, absolute bliss. A perfect escape from the crazy covid-19 world we are living in at the present. What is essential though are wellies, difficult without them at Wheatfen this time of year. Spent some time in the woods looking for fungi then walked around the rest of the reserve. If you love nature this is a place to visit.

This is a great spot to wander around, its been left to nature with good paths, a river that is swimmable if you like cold water :) There were cows roaming around that seemed very relaxed with walkers being about. Very peaceful place. We need more places like this in the UK.

We had a lovely camping experience at Salhouse If you are hoping to recreate Glastonbury and you did not read the lovely descriptions of the setting, listened to the ranger's friendly welcome and read the information leaflet shared upon arrival you WILL be disappointed when you are asked to leave after playing loud music, having flashing lights displays, drinking and talking loud until 4 am. I congratulate the Rangers on keeping the site to the expectations raised in their description by being firm with those who do not respect the rules. WELL DONE and THANK YOU The fire pits was amazing and the wood provided was very good quality. We were surprised about the cleanliness in the toilet areas. This is the PERFECT CAMPSITE for nature loving, water sport enthusiasts. Walking distance to the canoe launch and friendly staff helping boats moor for their day visits or night's stay. With a freshwater point if you need to top up the boat's tank. The campsite was very clear and the directions and instructions easy to follow. We made an error on our booking by booking the wrong size pitch but this was very quickly accommodated. A very child friendly site and setting with the Ranger even handing our children rolled oats to feed the ducks and swans at no extra charge. Wonderful learning experience for the children and we will not go camping without an extra bag of oats, it is cheaper than a loaf of bread after all and a lot healthier for the wildlife. Our overall experience was EXCELLENT and we will recommend and revisit Salhouse.
