What to do and see in Northwest Side, Texas (TX): The Best Outdoor Activities

October 31, 2021 Frederic Celentano

Step to the beat of wafting flamenco music as you wander the downtown River Walk before sampling as much chili (San Antonio’s signature dish) as your taste buds will allow. A visit to the Alamo is an absolute must, as is taking in a show at the ornate Majestic Theatre. San Antonio Missions National Historical Park is dotted with 18th-century buildings and features, making for an enriching excursion.

La Cantera Golf Club

A very challenging golf course and school. The highest spot within the San Antonio city limits is the tee box at hole eleven.

We played the Palmer course and we were overwhelmed by the beautiful views and change of elevations. Almost every if not every hole plays uphill or downhill at some point. I know a hill is not a tall as a mountain but some of the elevations seemed more like mountains than hills. The course was well maintained to the level you would expect from a resort.

Palmer Course at La Cantera, we played on Saturday after playing the Resort course on Friday. I thought Friday golf was good until we arrived at the Palmer course on Saturday and played there. Great way to spend 2 days in the Texas Hill country with a great golf partner, my wife.

Had a great time at TopGolf today. (Tuesday). My son and I played for 2 hours. Don’t miss the Angry Birds golf game if you have kids. A lot of fun for my 9 yr old. Anthony E was an excellent server. Our drinks and food were timed right and he always made sure we didn’t need anything. Booked a 2:30pm reservation and our bay was ready right on time. Good thing because there was a walk-in wait list. Everything was clean and there was plexiglass between bays. Hopefully by the time summer comes those can be removed because it sure blocks wind flow. But today’s weather was not too hot thankfully. The fan did get turned on to help with cooling the temp a little. All in all a great time. (Pics of injectable donut holes, steak tacos, Mac n cheese bites, and a martini) Tacos and donut holes are two of my favorites.

A challenging municipal course.

Reviewed By 662JamesB662

Cedar Creek is the crown jewel of the Alamo group of San Antonio courses. Long fairways, well placed water and sandpits, fine greens, and a beautiful play though the canyons and cliffs make this course most challenging and rewarding. Refreshments are available in the hilltop cafe or on the course via a food cart. An excellent golf shop is available if you need equiptment. This is my favorite course in the area.
