Koiteli is little bit "busy" place and all time Oulu people favorite destination. Fast flowing river is very nice and barbecue places are excellent. There are very good walking ways and nature trip goes easy there. My 3 y.o son was going totally crazy while exploring place. This is place to visit spring time when water is more wild.

Situated only 30 minutes’ drive from Ruka ski resort, lies our farm Wanha Raatesalmi (Old Raatesalmi). From this unique and protected historical location on the lakeside, our riding tours take us through scenic landscapes in the heart of Kuusamo’s wilderness where have good chance to see wild animals e.g. reindeers. We emphasize personal service, safety and an environmentally friendly operation.
We did a 2 hour trail ride and it was simply awesome! Was luckily enough to be just us on the activity! I haven't ridden much at all and have to say that the Icelandic Horses are the most lovely, calm, well mannered and ideal horses to ride! The area where the stables are located and the trail we went on is stunning - the temperature was around -16°C and had over a metre of snow on the ground in a lot of places but this just added to the beauty and splendor! Our guide was amazing too - explained everything that we needed to know how to ride, control the horses and had some interesting facts about the horses we were riding and the breed themselves! I highly recommend this to visitors as an activity to do for many reasons - the horses, scenery, time away from the slopes, to relax and many more! One tip - just make sure you have the appropriate clothing on for the time of year, our guide told us how people would turn up in highly inappropriate wear especially for the winter time trails! Luckily I didn't fall off my horse - if I had the snow would have been like a pillow to land on!!!!

Probably the best beach resort in Finland. An impressive tourist business with hotels, restaurants, outlets and activity parks has grown next to the wonderful sandy beach. Has anything a beach person could ask for.

Ruka-Kuusamo is surrounded by National Parks, pure nature and comprehensive services. In Ruka-Kuusamo area you can go active on adventures or relax in well-being services, enjoy good food and quality accommodation in stunning sceneries all year round.
Second year in Ruka, stayed in the new Ruka Valley hotel, which is literally right on the doorstep to the ski school on the opposite side of the hill to the town. This isnt a problem though as a gondola runs wetween 9 and 7 to and from the town to the valley where ski school is held. Plenty of blue runs for beginners. The hotel has a resteraunt and bar which is open until 10pm, good quality food run by very friendly staff. Slopes are very good and well maintained, the main reason we initially chose Ruka is the guarenteed snow, cold and the wide range of excursions available. It was actually cheaper to get here and stay in this wonderful hotel than it was to get to corfu last year, however, the excursions, lift passes, equipment hire and food and drink soon make up for that. Overall, plenty of places to eat, all excelllent quality and easy access to wherever you want to go. Keep it quiet tho, currently the most attractive part of this place is how quiet and laidback it is. All this makes it a fantastic place to visit. If there is one negative, its the volume of snowboarders has increased significantly on last year ,it can be a bit intimidating for skiers still learning, would be good to,see at least 1 slope where snow boarders are prohibited. Booked with Crystal Ski first week February.

A windy beach, but the water was surprisingly warm. Lots of people on a sunny day. Loads of ice cream kiosks. An interesting lighthouse. A must when you visit Oulu in summer.
