We had a fantastic wine tasting session with friends. Jani the winemaker was very cheerful, he showed us around the facility, told a couple of nice and funny stories about his wine-maker life :) We took six fantastic bottle of wines and an awesome extra dry champaigne. Even in november, the weather was so nice, we took out tables to the sun and enjoyed the event outside. 5 stars, recommended to everybody coming to Eger :)

Holdvolgy Experience

Our winery is in the heart of the Tokaj wine region in Hungary, just a few miles from Europe’s geometric centre. The Mád basin holds a special position in the world of winegrowing because of its unique soil, macroclimate, and microclimate. Settled as early as the 15th century, Mád is identified in ancient documents as a borough. It was a meeting point for barons, counts, lords, and wine merchants, making it a pivotal location for winegrowing and the wine trade. Holdvölgy operates on an area of twenty-seven hectares. Our estate is situated on twenty-two parcels within seven different vineyards in the best areas of the Mád basin. Our cellar is one of the oldest cellar systems in the region, with some sections dating back as far as the 16th century. Our cellar is also one of the longest, measuring 1.8 kilometers. The history of the winery started with a one-hectare birthday present. By 2006, the Estate had grown to twenty-six hectares. The goal was and still is to achieve the vision of

Egri Road Beatles Museum

Newsreels are played and the songs of the band can be listened to, whereas contemporary publications, garments and rarities are displayed. Games and photo-taking activities take the visitors back to the legendary sixties.

Even if this museum was in London or Liverpool it would be impressive. The owner, 50 something, began his collection at age 9. There is a very well-done 12 minute documentary before you begin your self-guided tour. We took our two children (3 and 6) and they loved it. You can play guitar, listen to music, watch videos and just gaze at all the cool Beatles stuff.

I absolutely loved this castle and the fairy garden around it. We went for a horse racing too just next to the castle. I especially liked the hungarian folk dancers show here.

This castle was the starting point of the recent Trail run we participated, so we also took the opportunity to look around before the race. We had about 30 - 35 minutes, which was enough to walk up to the castle and visit this interesting place. This is only partly renovated, but worth to visit and learn the history, enjoy the great view from the walls. We also enjoyed the friendly and warm welcome from the staff, and good wishes for the race,

"HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANT WINERY" | TOKAJ GUIDE 2016. "The most friendly wine tasting place in Tokaj" | Lonely Planet More than 30 years our family has been growing grapes and making wine. Our vineyards today encompass 3 hectars and we produce cca. 10000 bottles of fine tokaji wine annually. They appear on market with serial numbered labels. According to the chronicles, our building itself was built in the 16th century as a hunting lodge by János Szapolyai, the king of Hungary and the voivode of Transylvania. My husband and I attended the wine tasting at Himesudvar. Directly from the source, Peter, the winemaker and owner, carefully explained to us the characteristics of the grape varieties and the sweet winemaking process during the tasting. He is approachable and speaks good English. We even got a chance to visit the cellar. It was well organised and interesting. This trip has deepened my understanding of the history, people, and effort behind different types of sweet wine. I personally love their sweet wine selection, which is well balanced with a perfect amount of sweetness and acidity. Their wine is only available at the cellar door, run fast!

It is just about 1 kilometre from the village to walk up to the Castle. Admission fee was HUF 1,200 per adult and it was worth every forint of it! It was nicely renovated with interesting rooms. The castle was one of the best I have ever visited in Hungary because it could give you the atmosphere of isolation, what it had been many centuries before. Also the surrounding area was breathtaking, you could see meadows, forests and even hear animals roaming.

It was establioshed in the 1930th. The ‘thematic’ walkway in the hanging gardens joins the Szinva educational trail, and enriches it with its nine stations. The stations are connected to poetry, poets, natural scientists and love, while the natural and artificial elements of the environment are also duly highlighted.

Lillafured was such a nice experience all around. We started with coffee inside the hotel where we met the nicest barista, Eva, and enjoyed a delightful treat with coffee. Then we walked around the entire gardens including the hanging gardens and waterfall, then back to Hamori Lake for a rowboat ride. We spent about 3 hours in total with teenagers! Lovely!
