The Science and Industry Museum sits in the heart of Manchester, the world's first industrial city. It houses the world's oldest surviving passenger railway station and the world's first railway warehouse from 1830, which are located at the end of the museum site. On a visit to the museum, you will see amazing objects and learn about the men and women whose ideas changed the world forever. Daily demonstrations bring the museum's world class collection of textile and industrial machinery to life. There are interactive exhibits to explore and a regular programme of changing exhibitions to enjoy.

The gory story of medicine through time. Sick To Death offers the history of medicine in a museum and family attraction in Chester City Centre - located on the city's famous Rows. A playground of plaque with a smatter of splatter & a chance to poke into the medical past. Prepare yourselves for……bad smells, gross gore, a bit of magic and a lot of science and discovery all to be explored in a fun way. The attraction offers self guided tours which take approx one hour and includes a unique shop selling fun spells, witches mugs, science kits, crystals, tarot cards and all things unique and magical.

We visited Catalyst in half term (myself and my two daughters, aged 6 and 10). The interactive exhibits in the 'Scientrific' zone were massive hit with both children - they had to be dragged away to attend the equally engaging shows which were delivered by two professional, entertaining and knowledgeable presenters. I was particularly impressed by the drive to make the entire experience hands on and immersive - neither the staff, the environment or the sessions were stuffy - and because of this my children are raving about their day out. We had a bite to eat in the clean and spacious cafe, which has a good selection of light meals, before heading up the 'great glass elevator' to the Observatory to enjoy the magnificent views of the estuary and local environment. I cannot rate this trip highly enough...the girls can't wait to return!

Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre is best-known as the home of the world-famous Lovell Telescope -A near 90m high radio telescope that has become an iconic landmark on the Cheshire landscape. Seeing the telescope up close and in action is an exhilarating sight and the Centre's interactive displays and exhibits help explain what the telescope does and how it works. The Discovery Centre also includes a cafe and gift shop, along with 35 acres of gardens and arboretum, complete with picnic areas and playground, perfect for a family day out. You'll also find a year-round events programme including live science shows taking place during school holidays, a popular evening lecture series, and the award-winning annual festival of discovery, Bluedot.
Only just reopened after lockdown with all the precautions applied. It must be booked online in advance. Loads of info boards, clear and understandable without being dumbed down. Children’s playground plus some interactive techie stuff mostly outside. The Lovell telescope is amazing, it’s recently become a World Heritage site so I would highly recommend attending one of the educational talks about it’s history with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Plenty of free parking, small café and shop. Did I mention the Lovell telescope is amazing
