Thank you for an experience from the past. A lovely old fashioned single screen cinema. Very friendly with complimentary tea and coffee before the film. Excellent value compared to some of the modern multi screen cinemas these days. Always love going to the Alhambra.

Chorley Theatre

Chorley Theatre is a volunteer-run independent venue staging plays, musicals, pantos, touring comedy, music and films.Built in 1910, it has been owned and operated by amdram group CADOS since 1960 and produces at least 6 full shows per year, plus 2 by Chorley Youth Theatre. It's an ideal venue for comedy shows by top stand-up comedians, and the regular film showings are digitally projected on to the big screen, with Surround Sound. There's a great-priced bar and the building has full disabled access. Any profits go back into the upkeep of the building, and all income comes from ticket and bar sales.

Always a good show - apart from Pantomines which I always choose to miss - my choice not Chorley Little Theatre's fault. I believe they are much appreciated by those who enjoy this genre. Easy to book through Malcolm's Musicland. Parking close by and excellent. Drinks and snacks very good value - don't bring your own support the theatre.

Palace Cinema

Lots on offer in this old cinema. It has a bygone feel but offers all sorts. Coffee and cake/ice cream/sweets/good beer. They are working on being sustainable with ideas such as free squash for kids if you bring a suitable cup. They use volunteers and have a film/book club providing community with a great social hub. I enjoy a yoga class held there. And of course the film program is an interesting mix of new releases, classics and locally produced films.

Oldest cinema in Liverpool but you wouldnt think it. Lovely staff nice little shop and when you enter the cinema it is such a surprise. It is bigger than I imagined and the seating is really superb, I thought it might be old fashioned seating but most definitely it isnt. They are very comfortable modern seats with a HUGE distance to the ones in front. No need to stand when people pass - really excellent. The whole experience is brilliant and loved it. The film and sound quality were of a high standard also.

The Light Cinema is a fab, it has a good vibe and very comfy seats at no extra cost. We’re really lucky to have this cinema on our doorstep. I have to give a special mention to the great staff too. My son visited The Light last weekend and the next day he realised he’d lost his wallet. We rang The Light and were told a staff member had found it when clearing up and put it in the safe. A special thanks goes to that very honest staff member, my son’s wallet was returned with not a penny missing. Thank you so much,

We work in cinemas and theatres all over the country assisting in the maintenance of seating, I must say this is one of the friendliest places I have had the pleasure to work in , the staff from management to cleaners are all friendly and helpful, prices are very reasonable with a fab choice at the counter and some great deals on food/ drink combinations. Everyone seemed very proud of their cinema and well they should be. I agree, its great to work in places like that.

Alhambra Cinema

Located in the heart of Penrith, the Alhambra Cinemas provide a first-class cinema experience, screening all the latest cinema releases as well as independent and foreign-language films in comfortable and relaxing surroundings. Now with Dolby Digital projection and Dolby Digital sound.

Reviewed By FrankMinaM - Carlisle, United Kingdom

Three screen cinema with film savvy staff ... great for families and popular films but equally good for lesser known interesting thoughtful films. Alhambra is very much part of the arts and entertainment offer in Penrith and provides both popular and intellectual films. I’ve watched films as interesting as the Mummy in 3D, Notting Hill ( 20th anniversary), Casablanca theme night, the last witness with Q&A, Yuli , the Carlos Acosta story, Jellyfish, Dirty Dancing, Fantastic Beasts in 3D, For Sama, The Two Popes, the Irishman, ROH Manon Lescaut, and many many more... Alhambra is small in size but massive in its cultural offer... come and “see”! Enjoy the experience of a small screen or the larger big screens!
