Mostly jutting northward from its largest city of Amsterdam and its capital of Haarlem, the Noord-Holland region has much more to offer beyond those two wonderful cities. At Muiden is the magnificent Muiderslot Castle, as if it stepped out of a fairy tale. Showing more wear but no less interesting is Brederode Castle at Santpoort. At Zaanstad is Zaanse Schans, one of Holland’s top tourist destinations and a family-friendly open air museum of windmills, traditional buildings, crafts and shops.

Stroll among the shady trees, admire the diversity of plants and animals, travel to the stars, enjoy our heritage. Visit ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo and experience nature right in the city centre.
Me and my wife had wanted to go to the zoo in Amsterdam for the last 5 years but the weather has never been good enough , well this time last Tuesday when we got up the sun was shining , so we got up and went , The Zoo was really really good , the animal enclosures were large with plenty of toys and amusements for the animals , they were clean and the food laying around was fresh , loads to see and do and plenty of cafes to stop and have a warm drink . Overall a great place to go and can't wait to go back next year .

History, views, and aquatic life. Something for the entire family. Museum provides a background of how war has affected the area, from when Napoleon had the fort built through its use by both the Dutch and Germans during World War 2. There are a number of artifacts from each phase, including the wing and pieces of cockpit from a Messerschmitt 109. Tour the fort from top to bottom. Be sure to climb the ramp through the outer wall to get a great view of the surrounding area. Take a break in the small cafe near the ticket booth. (There is a restaurant on the main floor, but it was closed). Then take a tour of the aquarium to see the local marine life, including the skeleton of the sperm whale. See if you can find the blue lobster.

We just visited the butterfly garden on Father's day. The garden is not so big, reasonable entry price. By the entrance has small corner to sell souvenirs and fresh anthurium bouquets. It was quite warm and humid inside the greenhouse that day, therefore didn't have many visitors. We feel free, easy and relax to see everything, beautiful exotic flowers and plants, variety butterflies... Really nice indoor garden, besides butterflies they also have small lake full of fish, waterfall and water plants... anh birds. Eating and drinking available with reasonable price.
