The discovery begins with the local Tinto (Market) where all the produce from the three villages are sold. Then we witness the large sized conventional machinery that are used to squeeze coconut oil in the purest form. The British have their mark in the making of the village transport system that still carry memories of the colonial past. We explore different items and stories of how the Portuguese developed trade in this region with the help of the British. Not to forget the tales of the legends of the village that have aided the liberation movement in Goa. Following which we head to the oldest church in the village that was known to have been connected by a waterway in the past. Finally, the infamous mystery behind the three kings chapel and why it became popular as the most haunted place in Goa.

To start our journey of heritage tour, our first step was, took a boat ride from The Gateway of India to the Elephanta Caves and the journey took just over an hour to get there. The back journey was about 45 minutes. When we arrived there, we chose to walk all the way but unfortunately there is a little train which takes us closer to the steps. The steps up to the caves are steep and lined with stalls selling souvenirs but even we didn't feel hassled at all. To enter the island we had to pay 15 rupees each then to enter the caves. The first cave that we saw was the most interesting

In this day tour, we will visit 3 alluring forts of Goa. Having been a trading centre as well as the seat of power for several Indian kingdoms and the Portuguese, Goa has an enviable collection of Forts. We will start the Fort trail at Reis Magos Fort which served as a strategic location for the Portuguese army since the 16th century, then move on to Aguada which used to harbour political prisoners of the Portuguese and end at Chapora which is famous for being featured in the Bollywood block bluster film Dil Chahta Hain.

Really fantastic day-trip. Just the two of us, together with our guide who seemed to be a bottemless pit of knowledge about the sites we visited and their history. But almost more importent to us was her willingness to share her experience and wealth of knowledge about everyday life in Goa today. Our only disappointment was that we were not able to enter the caves - especially having seen similar caves (in North Goa) on line. Not sure whether she felt we were too old to cope with the physical effort involved or the access was no longer possible. But it really didn't spoil the whole experience and we would recommend it to anyone interested in the historical and archaeological background to the region.
The tour aims at exploring Kochi as a local. The public transport like a tuk tuk and public service bus is used which will give you an insight into the life of the people. Also the tour goes to regions like that of Saraswath Brahmins and Marvaris, and Gujarath Brahmins who represent different cultures and life styles.and who live peacefully showing the greatest tolerance in mingling with everyone around. The tour when rides the narrow thorough fares and by-lanes in the tuk tuk will give you a most satisfying experience by all five senses.

My wife and I encountered Joyce on a houseboat cruise boat on the Kerala backwaters. Joyce was very clear and straightforward in his explanations of Kerala and its history, and given his 17 years of tour experience, had answers to all of our questions. We liked Joyce so much we hired him for an additional day to tour us around Cochin to see several sights (beach resort, Maharaja Palace, heritage museum, Fort Kochi, etc). Joyce was very flexible in adapting the tour so we could see what we wanted (more historical sites than massages or resorts), and he arrived early and catered completely to our needs. Will recommend Joyce to any of our friends that visit Kerala.
