Take one of the morning tours. You’ll be led by a volunteer naturalist along a boardwalk through the different eco systems in the swamp sanctuary. Saw wood storks, spoonbills and a variety of birds along with alligators, raccoons, snakes. Not to worry though, they’re all at a safe distance from you up on the boardwalk. The guides are great and point out all the interesting and unique flora and fauna. Definitely a place both adults and kids will enjoy.

Visited for the first time. Very warmly greeted. Access is free, but donation gladly given. A surprisingly large amount on exhibit, starting with the Revolutionary War. By far, largest exhibit is on World War 2. Many interesting things. There are guides throughout to answer questions. Very enjoyable time. Will return soon. Thank you.

I go occasionally ! It has some great fresh veggies , dog friendly I go early because it's very , very crowded during season
Actually it a nightmare.
Only complaint is parking and people who think their dog should make friends with all dogs ! Mine dosen't like dogs on leash es but even after warning people just don't get it ???
Other than that go early , get what you want ! Go home

Florida's premier bonsai nursery. Open 7 days a week. Retail and Wholesale. Bonsai trees , supplies , classes, bonsai pots
This place was so interesting. There are hundreds of trees of all sizes and prices. You can buy one that is ready to train or you can purchase a fully formed one. There is a workshop where you can take lessons or look on to see how the trees are trained. We observed the owner unloading his truck full of stumps and then he cut them to get them ready to start growing new shoots. It was amazing. The trunks he cut were fairly large and will probably sell for thousands when he is finished with them. Some of the larger ones that you might see in a hotel or business were something else and one of them sold for $15,000. They also have smaller ones which are affordable to most everyone. This place is a cross between a nursery and an art museum. They also have a gift shop where you can purchase supplies if youchoose to try training a bonsai on your own. The owners were so personable and were eager to answer questions. They are in North Fort Myers and do have a website. Check it out.

Visitors to the Edison & Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers will enjoy seeing the winter residences of famous inventors Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. There are historical buildings, award-winning gardens, the Edison Botanic Research Lab and the Inventors Museum. The museum has hundreds of inventions, artifacts and special exhibits. Edison Ford offers many tour options, including special "Inside the Homes" and "Inside the Laboratory" Tours on select days. The audio tour is available in English, Spanish, German and French. Historian led tours are also offered in German and Spanish on select days. Group tours can be arranged in advance. River cruises are offered daily and dining options are available, including waterfront dining.
I had no idea there was so much here - gardens, houses, museum, shop. We ended up spending 3 hours! And we got in free with our Botanical Garden membership from home. Highly recommend. You learn many interesting things about Edison's impact in Ft Myers area (e.g., he was responsible for the palm trees)

Boardwalk is about 1 mile long and shaded by the mangroves. Not very buggy. Only saw 1 Ibis. No other animals- not even a butterfly. Education center due for a thorough cleaning and updating. Kayaking appears difficult as channel looks narrow with low canopy. 800’ portage so we did not go kayaking. Very nice Veterans Memorial.

Florida Repertory Theatre performs in the Historic Arcade Theatre in the heart of the Fort Myers River District.
If you have the time, The Miracle Worker is excellent. All of the productions that we have attended were outstanding. Make a afternoon or evening out of the show by including dinner or lunch at one of the fine restaurants in the Downtown River District....MoreThanks so much, Andy! We are thrilled you love the Rep and the River District so much!

We are a CSA farm with membership, but the public is welcome to dine with us at our picturesque farm-to-table restaurant on Saturdays from 11AM-3PM. Reservations are required and you can make your reservation by phone or email. We love to welcome guests to our farm, explain the work we are doing, and have people meet our animals. We have an exciting menu and always have Gluten-Free, Paleo, Whole 30 and Vegan and Vegetarian options! The menu changes frequently and entrees are sourced from the bounty of our farm: Pigs and Grits, Pulled Pork Benedict, Cast Iron Skillet Brunch Bake, Pineapple-Upside Down French Toast are some of our frequently occurring favorites. Sit out on the covered patio, dine inside our elegantly rustic enclosed barn. Enjoy beer, wine, Bloody Marys, Mimosas. Visit our animals, and, of course, pick up your weekly provisions of pastured meats, poultry, eggs. At all of our events and farmer’s markets, our organically-raised and pastured meats, organically-grown heirloom vegetables and herbs, and prepared items from our state-of-the-art kitchen will be available for purchase. Our 100% grass-fed Longhorn cows, pastured Red Wattle pigs, and pastured Dominique and Black Australorp chickens are heritage breeds. All are slow-growing and celebrated for the flavor of their meat and eggs. We raise them organically, holistically, sustainably, humanely, and as close to nature as possible. As each is nourished by our lush grass and pastured conditions, they stay naturally healthy — no additives required. That means no hormones, no steroids, no antibiotics — you won’t find any of them here.
The restaurant's food is expensive, not very good (over spiced, mostly). Not much to see on the grounds. They sell produce, but it's ridiculously expensive. Got there about 15 minutes early and they wouldn't let us in the gate - had to drive around the countryside until opening time. It's a farm for cryin' out loud...

We tried this place 3 times in the 2 months that were were in this area. We found out after the first visit that you can only walk the short circular trail if there has been recent rain because the horse trails are under water and you can only get to the other trails by taking the horse trail. We came back 2 more times after waiting what we thought was a good amount of time to allow the trail to dry. The last time, it hadn't rained for about 9 days and we still couldn't get down the horse trail because it was still under water. Very disappointing.

Went down here twice in one week.. So nice to walk around seeing the sculptures, talking with nice people, and so close to the downtown area. Lots of places to eat, had lunch one day, cant remember the name of the place but had great plate of fried grouper.
Big sculpture show in the River District, with lots of different metal sculptures to look at and enjoy. Definitely go there, take a walk around and enjoy yourself.
Word of Caution! Be careful of the parking areas near the downtown area. Some of the meters are very short timed... Just ask and look. Down by the river, lots of parking without any hassles... I got a ticket because I didn't know...
