The Tanners Arms ale house features six handpulls which carry all-local real ales, judiciously chosen, fastidiously kept and a pleasure to sup; a good selection of whiskies to warm and revive every palate; regular live music sessions of all varieties; the most eclectic jukebox in Northumberland; and most important of all, a friendly, laid-back environment full of good crack and camaraderie. A good old-fashioned English pub, and a pleasant spot to while away an evening…
Popped in here whilst on an overnight in Alnwick. A friendly welcome and entertainment on their open mike slot. Really enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone.

A micropub specialising in all that is beer. With 4 ever changing cask beers, craft beer by the bottle and traditional ciders on tap. We also have a small selection of quality wine, soft drinks and if course, pies! We don't have...music, tv, alcopopsor spirits, as per the original micropub ethos
We came here on recommendation of YHA staff and locals- ticked away off Bridge street, cosy friendly place with small range of craft beers. Highly recommended

Welcome to the roaring 20's! Home of cool jazz and cabaret. A world of slick style and hard liquor! Prohibition Cabaret Bar is the award winning home of all things entertainment for performers and audiences alike. Built specifically to provide a stage for variety, cabaret, music hall and vaudeville acts from the region and beyond for audiences far and wide. Not to mention our fully equipped private hire facilities. Prohibition was moved from the original railway arch premises - lock, stock and two oak-smoked barrels, to the former Jazz Cafe premises of Newcastle's famous Pink Lane in January 2019. Why don't you come on in and join us! ~ Mitch
I attend the monthly burlesque shows which are always a brilliant night out, I often pop in for a couple of drinks at the start of a evening / dinner in town and I’m always served by brilliant staff and the bar has a lovely atmosphere. There is two levels so ideal for a private party upstairs. Decor is great and you do feel like you have traveled back in time. It’s a proper gem of a bar, right in the city centre. Well worth a visit! X

A small friendly micro pub serving not just local handpull ales but wines, ciders and spirits including over 40 gins, set in the heart of Rothbury Northumberland.
Unassuming from the outside, this pub has filled a shop in the town, and it’s fantastic. Always good ale on tap, and a selection of other pints, everybody will find something to drink here! A warm welcome to regulars and visitors, good dogs welcome, and because it’s run independently, the cost of a round won’t raise an eyebrow!!

We had a one night flying visit from 150 miles away to the area and popped in for a drink. Our son’s ashes are at St James Park, and we “visit” him every couple of months. This time was the 12th anniversary of his death. We usually go into Nine, but it’s still closed. It was a nice day and as we came out of the carpark we noticed outdoor tables here, so decided to have a quick toast to our son. The gentleman who checked us in took our details for track and trace, then we went to sit outside. It’s all table service, so he came out to take our order. He was really friendly and welcoming. We later had a coffee served by a lady who was equally lovely. We were very impressed with the way they’ve adapted, and loved being able to sit outside overlooking our son’s resting place. We shall look forward to popping in again when we’re next up there in October.

Always a great selection of beers, one of the best in Sunderland for craft selection. It was our first time having the pizzas and they were amazing!
