We took the 2 day overnight rafting trip through the Hudson River Gorge this past weekend and Square Eddy could not have delivered a better experience. Partners Lori Phoebe and Linc really brought us into the Square Eddy family.
From reservations to suggestions for local lodging the night before and breakfast the morning of or trip to working with us on a menu for our meals to supplying us with dry bags for the journey and outfitting us with our gear, the prep work was flawless.
And then they got better. Every Square Eddy employee we worked with was a star in their own right. Special thanks to Jake who piloted or gear boat, ran our camp kitchen and kept our kids fed and happy.
I cannot say enough about Linc's leadership of our trip. His energy, spirit passion for the north country, knowledge of its history, desire to share it and expertise on the water made for a perfect trip.
Lori Phoebe set up our provisions, fulfilled some kid specific requests and filled the cooler with some delicious homemade items. The kicker was when we met up with her day trip crew on Sunday and she sang her original song about the river! Who knew she had a beautiful voice too!
That this is truly a family business is highlighted by being greeted upon our return to base by Linc's parents with the reward of a cold beer, a hot dog and the chill afternoon vibe of a family BBQ.
On the river we could really see that Square Eddy is focused on providing an experience that you could drink in as we observed other larger operators pushing their guests down the river as quickly as possible.
We will be back!

A premier winter recreation destination with the most skiable terrain in New York State and a towering 2537' vertical drop. Enjoy a welcoming family-oriented atmosphere, an immense variety of terrain, and high-speed lifts including an eight-passenger gondola. Conveniently located 25 scenic minutes off I-87. Open for off-season activities including scenic gondola rides, mountain biking, and base area attractions during the warmer months.
It's my first time at Gore Mountain, and my family and I have thoroughly enjoyed the Mountain. My father is an expert skier, and my brother is an expert snowboarder, and they both were able to go through every open run on the mountain during the four days we've been here. They love the variety on the runs especially at the top of the mountain. I'm a less experienced skier, but I found the green and blue runs to be a great experience.
We never had to wait more than 5 min in line for a lift, and most of the time, there was no line at all. The runs are long, which allows you to spend more time going down the mountain compared to other places I've skied in the past. The Mountain is small in the sense that you always end up at one of two lodges making it easy to find your group if you get separated.
The employees are so friendly and helpful. We never passed a staff member without a kind word of encouragement or well wishes for a great day on the slopes. Looking forward to returning in the future!

Revolution Rail Co. offers railbiking as a fun excursion activity that allows riders to ride the railroad tracks under their own power and explore a section of the Adirondacks that has never seen passenger traffic.
We booked this 2 months in advance because we wanted to go during the changing of the leaves. Oh my what a gorgeous view! It was very easy to pedal...the incline was only a 2% incline. We had a tandem bike which they can move the seat up or back to fit your leg length. The employees are absolutely the best! So informative and nice. The ride on the bus to the rail trail was fun. They joked around and put everyone to ease. If you want to ride this you must book early, they book up quickly. We plan on going back next year with friends. Amazing!!

Any time of day you can be visiting downtown North Creek and see Kate Hartley and other artists working on this amazing mosaic. Kate has dedicated three years to making this happen. If you are lucky, she may let you put a piece on her wall. It is amazing to see her vision come to life. It is worth the trip. Cafe Sarah's is right across the street so you can have a cup and some goodies as you enjoy the site. My Grand children love visiting to see the progress

This is a unique shop featuring Adk products. The presentation is engaging and artistic. i especially like to shop there when Laurie is in the shop as it makes for great conversation and a few laughs. I am not sure what my favorite department is, but I do enjoy the jewelry and ladies clothing, featuring which features lovely items for the active and trendy woman.

We did the North Creek Dining on the rails and it was a fantastic night. We boarded around 6 pm for the ride headed towards Saratoga. We had selection of apps, salads and entree with dessert. Everything was delicious with great service. The conductor, bartender, wait staff and train were top notch. We loved the evening and will do again. The scenery was just beautiful and the ride very smooth. A great evening had by all in our group.

We stopped here for ice cream after lunch, which was very good. What struck me the most about this business was that it was absolutely immaculate both inside the cafe and the restrooms. They had delicious looking fudge as well, but we were too full from lunch to have any.
